Default Driver seat loose?

So when i go over bumps or rolls in the road my seat feels like its lifting, or just loose enough to move me upwards. Can i do something to look and address this on my own or do i have to bring it in to the dealer...just dont want to go in for something so small now..

I don't know much about seats, whereabouts do I find those bolts? In my case the backrest of the seat shifts side to side when I turn at almost anything than the slowest speed. One time, it shifted enough to hurt my back exiting the highway, but standing still I can't seem to move it.

I don't know the others but I do have the motorized seat. I called my nearest (decent) dealer and the made an appointment but the guy wanted to warn me that the seat, supposedly, has some play in it. I didn't want to be abrasive before service but it sounds like BS, to avoid fixing it.

Well, I am sort of confused... "Search"? It was literally the first thread that I opened this morning because buenor commented on it, just saying.

But, because I don't want to be a jerk and just post for posting, and so I will say that I asked my dealer about this a few months ago before getting my 3.8 R-Spec just because I thought it was a problem with the leather (not the electric seats).

I was told by a tech guy that the seat problem was very common in models with electric seats. Unfortunately, he didn't tell me WHY, but it is common (at least for this dealer).

my seat actually makes some sort of squeaking noise over bumps, manual seats
should probably check what the deal is when it isnt freezing outside.

That's strange... I think I might go back into the dealership and ask them about it because I was planning on going back regardless today, I'll let everyone know.

Just so I have a little more information, do you have a manual seat (with or without leather along the trim like in the R-Spec?) or an automatic seat with full leather? Are you hearing squeaking noises or a clunking/popping noise? Also, can you replicate the noise at a stop? Is the noise only made for vertical movement, or is it horizontal movement as well?

The more of you that answer the few questions above the more likely I will be to get a direct answer.

Thanks

Hi;

To continue the conversation from the other thread. Same answer but a little more information:
- Full leather, electric seat
- It is a clunk/snap sound while driving even while turning. Also it can be felt on the lower back, NOT on the bottom. Cannot replicate while stopped, and not always while driving, but it has happened even when pulling into a parking space.
- For me at least, just the horizontal movement.

Okay so now the various symptoms are squeaking & popping, automatic & manual, electric & not, vertical & horizontal... well, pretty much it just seems like there is something wrong with the seats, so I'll ask to see if there is a simple solution.

Most likely the dealers are just too lazy to go in, take 3 minutes to tighten the loose bolts that are causing the problem, and then send you on your way.

Searching I found this particular fix, I don't if it is actually the reason but sounds likely. You might not want to do it yourself so you don't give them any reason to deny warranty coverage if it turns out to be something more serious.

+1 for search

Yeah, this is something that could "void your warranty" potentially, but it isn't like your dealership is going to even know you put the washer there. It is more for things like transmission work that are going to be the big giveaway.

Lots of guys go into the dealership with ECU reflashes that completely get away with it because they don't even look that thoroughly.
EDIT: ECU reflashes aren't something that you can detect visually, and adding a washer isn't something that is very noticeable.

Correct, I am taking mine in on Tuesday anyway. They seem to have heard of it before, since they tried to tell me over the phone that the seat is supposed to have play in it. First I hear of such of thing. I am mostly concerned because some people have had the railing sub-assembly replaced, don't want that to be my case but better be sure.

I am taking to them first, this way if, for example, the sunroof rattles they won't tell it's because I put a washer in the seat assembly!!!! I don't trust them too much, Hyundai tried to tell me once that the leather on my steering wheel peeled off (@ 4,000mi) because I was holding it ... with my hands!

Update then, I took in the car on Tuesday.

They checked the bolts on the seat and the rail underneath. He said that none appeared to be loose and couldn't replicate the movement. I thought nothing would change, BUT now the seat doesn't seem to slide. So I don't know if he tightened any of them as he checked them (?)

No real answer other than the problem seems to have gone away or at least not shown up during the last couple of days.

The dealership would never even know you messed with that bolt imo.
I was tired of being told "we can't do anything about it"
