Default Ants?

Ok, so my car was parked for a couple weeks outside my house. Went to drive the car today and noticed there seems to be a fair number of ants crawling around inside. I moved my car up the street (in case I was on an anthill or something), but there's enough that I don't really want to drive it much lol.

Any ideas on how to get rid of them? I've vacuumed out the ones I saw but I'm sure theres more.

They make ant traps that you can buy and place in a few places. That's awful you must have parked on an ant hill or you need to stop eating snickers in your car.

Lol no I don't eat in my car. I made sure to clean out any trash when I parked it before just in case.

Are those kind of traps safe to use in a car? I wouldn't want to end up attracting more of them either (such as with bait).

I hear if you put a few rats in there, they'll scare the ants out. You might try acquiring an anteater if you don't want to go the rat route.

I remember in 1978 a friend of mine screeched up to a public vacuum in his ~1966 LeMans (389 Tri-Power...FTW....and single digit mileage!) and his whole car was infested with ants. He vacuumed them out the best he could and I never heard another thing about it. I would vacuum if you can and then put in some of the traps that they walk into and get stuck inside. Toss them out in a couple of days and you should be good, I think.

Around here, if you leave a car sitting for any length of time, you will get ants. I used to get them bad all the time in my old Titan. Just went to the store and picked up a pack of those RAID ant trap/baits and tossed one under the driver and passenger seats. No more ants. Havent had that problem yet with the Coupe, but if I do, Ill just do the same thing.

Id go with baits/traps first. Bombing will cover everything with residue. Think a month of a carload of smokers smoking non stop with the windows rolled up and the ac set to recirc!

The traps will work just fine. Especially in such a small area. Just buy a bunch so you can be done with it quick.

That's crazy how they got in, if you think about it, the car is on tires they would have to crawl up the tires first then find a way in. Typically ants are attracted by food, are you sure there was nothing in the car? unless you were parked by really ant invested area.

I've double-checked and there's no food or crumbs that I can find in my car.

Glue traps aren't working, I'm not picking up anything. Maybe they are positioned wrong?

Also, it seems like there's actually more of them on the outside ... and it seems like their eating the pollen/ leaves/ etc that gets into places. I'm not even sure their ants, as they are smaller and more of a brown color.

Can't get rid of the ones on the outside either and I've rinsed the car down and make a circle around it with bug spray but I keep finding them .. lol

Won't putting out bait attract more to come into the car?

Now I'm a little paranoid parking my Gen outside..

Sweep up the pollen/leaves and then a little further away put like a half empty coke can and attract the ants there and maybe some of the last bit of ants will crawl out of your car?

What is attracting them to it? With ants you will probably have to burn it to the ground.
