Mirrortap Radar Detector Power Cable Install?

Has anyone installed a Mirrortap power cable on a 2013 Coupe with the Blue Link/Home Link mirror? It looks like it'd be easy since the wiring harness is easy to access, but I want to be sure there aren't any issues with using it, and of course I need to know which wires on the harness to connect to.

You might want to get a multi meter and back probe the connector, to see which has power, ideally use one with the ignition key on. Unless you can get a wiring diagram.

I tried the mirror tap cable. It was to thick of pins and I couldn't get it in the plug. I ended up wasting an hour trying to get it in. Broke the pins trying then tried to splice them in with no luck. Waste of $25 for me. Ended up buying an Escort harness and had it professionally installed.

That's good news, which cable and bracket did you order exactly? And any chance you could peak at the wiring for me?

No, mine has three buttons on the left (including Blue Link and SOS), a big power button in the middle, and three Home Link buttons on the right. And I seem to remember there were more wires in the harness too.

Hmm, do you remember which pin thickness you ordered?

I tried looking online and that mirror was the one posted.

Just Take a multi meter set it to 12v and turn on the key probe it to see what has power. Some mirror taps have thinner pins, on ebay there are a few different brands. Or just test the one you have to see if the pin will fit.

Or get a hard wire kit to the fuse box super simple install.

I had to force mine in because the tap was thicker as mentioned above, but I haven't had any problems since I've installed it.

I'm a 2011, but I doubt there's much difference.

I have a valentine one mounted under my mirror. I just lowered the interior light housing and tapped into a hot wire while key on. Was very easy.

Thanks, I tried creating an account on that site when I found the other thread you posted asking about the same wiring question, but that site is ridiculously buggy, can't even sign up, all I get is errors. If you have the diagram still can you send me a link to it?

I have tapped into my homelink mirror. Just tap into the pink (positive) and black (negative) wire.

although personally i advise against tapping into wires. It will probably work if done right, regardless I just wouldn't risk cutting into the wire. check out.
The Problem with Wire-Tap Connectors Bareass Choppers Motorcycle Tech Pages

I just bought a dash camera, and will install it using a fuse tap. Cooper Bussmann/ATM fuse tap converts one into two fusible circuits - 10 Amps maximum on added circuit (BP-HHH-RP) | | AutoZone.com

Not only its cleaner and splicing is not needed, its also safer with the added fuse protection.
