Default Best deal on XM Radio

I let my free 3 mo. subscription expire. Since then, I've been bombarded by calls from XM as well as postcards in the mail. I really prefer Sirius b/c I would like to listen to Howard Stern. I do realize that you can get best of Howard Stern on XM for a few extra bucks a month. The postcards started at $100+ per year, but the deals seem to get better to try to get me to subscribe. Then it was $75/year. Now I've got an offer for $19.99 for 5 mo and the reactivation is waived. Has anyone been given an offer better than this?

Truly, I'd really like to install Sirius in my car using the XM antenna and have the player be portable so I can unhook it from the car and not be limited in listening in the car only.

Best I could get last summer was $77 for 13 months.
Will see what happens when it expires next Sept.
I will not pay their full asking price.

how long has it been since it expired? my 90 days expired dec 20 and i havent got anything from xm. my sirius expired on the 27th and i got one email from them. I too am having a hard time deciding which way i want to go. I like being able to use the stereo controls on the wheel, but i am leaning toward sticking with sirius because i have a boom box i can use too with it.

I purchased my Gen on 8/22/09. My subscription was supposed to end ~ 11/22/09, but I still received XM until 11/30/09. Then, I've been getting these calls from 1.877.253.3846. The postcards come in the mail maybe once every 1 to 2 weeks.

I've read about people using the XM antenna for Sirius. Although people have said the XM antennas work only for XM, some have found it to work for Sirius. Somewhere behind the glove box, the input from the antenna hooks in, and you can attach the Sirius docking station and Sirius receiver. You'll probably have to use the auxillary input, and the sound may not be as good.

I just got the same offer for 5 months. XM isn't worth it to me because I only listen to one station and my iPod. I occasionally turn on other channels but only if someone in the car doesn't like my stations.

Although, I do miss being able to use the info button to know the song instead of using shazam on my iPhone.

Default XM subscriptions

I went through the same thing.... Bought my GenCoupe in March '09 and when the 3 month trial sub ran out, I ignored it. A few months later, XM started calling me at home and my cell like crazy, trying to get me to sign up. I kept telling them "No way! Too expensive!" and so forth, and then discount coupons started coming in the mail. I finally went with an offer for 12 months for about $80.

I use XM out of laziness, basically.... The truth is, I have an iPod that sounds FAR better in the car, but it's kind of a pain building custom playlists of songs that make sense played back-to-back, in the different genres I might be in the mood to listen to. So it is kind of nice just being able to tune to a music station catering to whatever I feel like hearing.

But the sound quality disturbs me.... Everything sounds overly compressed, like 96 bit MP3 music or something. Even when the DJ's talk, you hear that odd metallic tinge to their voices. Interestingly though, my g/f has a Chrysler van with a Sirius receiver wired into it, and I don't notice the issue with that at all. I'm not sure if the external Sirius add-on receivers do something to filter or modify the sound, or if her car stereo just doesn't reproduce the highs strongly enough so you hear the flaws or what? But music sounds pretty decent in there.....

When you guys subscribe to XM, does that include the Traffic reporting feature on the Navigation systems? That's about the only thing I'd ever use.

I had the same complaint, till they resynched my receiver and the signal and it sounded MUCH better afterwards... went from being AM radio quality to better than FM quality.

I still didn't buy the service and have since removed my antenna Guess it just wasn't important to me.

I paid $99 for 13 months... Got XM and best of Sirius (Howard, NFL, Playboy radio)

Would have been $77 for just XM, but I gotta listen to Howard.

I got XM and Sirius for $75 for the year I just told them that i have proof that they are charging a "friend of mine" 75 for everything and if they wanted me to fax it over. Of course there was nothing but they never knew that. They folded like a house of cards.
