Default Leather shift knob

Hey is the shift knob itself supposed to have leather? The website says it has leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob standard on all trims, but I only have a leather shift boot... the knob itself feels like plastic. Am I imagining something?

The factory shift knob is leather with a plastic insert for the gear pattern.

They're both leather. I'm pretty sure that the Hyundai design team had a conversation when they were doing the steering wheel though that started something like this:

"Hey, we're making this awesome new sporty car, so what's the crappiest, most terrible and unappealing leather we can wrap the steering wheel in?"

I heard they put a crapload of preservatives on it, hence why it feels like hard plastic.

I'd honestly rather have that, because the leather on my Spec V steering wheel got so soft and tender that it started sticking to my hands on the real muggy and humid days.

Hmm speaking of leather, it made me worry about leather in our seats... It felt.. too soft and easily tearable =/ I previously drove a 240 in leather trim and my friend has a rsx-s and they both have the "hard leather" feeling, which is completely different from our leather. I could be just being paranoid, but all nissan and hondas i've driven so far hav the hard leatehery feeling. Is our leather suppose to be better?? I just remember reading Kirstin complaining about how easily worn out our leathers get.

Sorry for thread-jacking!!

Well softer leather is supposed to be more luxurious.

Steering wheel feels just fine to me. Same as my wife's Santa Fe. It's not leathery like the seats, but that is a more slippery feel. That would be the last thing in the world needed for the part of the car you need to HOLD onto and control. While it is humid in the south, the wheel feels fine. So that's all that matters to me :-)

Soft supple leather is supposed to be more luxurious. Its not thin, its just how its supposed to feel.

What a surprise....another thread in which Gen owners find something else to complain about...makes me wonder why some of you bothered buyng this car. As for soft feeling leather, my IS250 had the softest feeling leather seats, and I had no wear issues at all, my S2000 had harder leather, and I had wear issues.

Well, the car isn't perfect. No car in this price range really is. Do you suggest that people just never voice what they dislike about the car and the design stay constant with no improvement ever?

Sorry, I actually meant to exactlly what you just said. I have had planty of cars, some more expensive, some less. They all had faults. Yes, Hyundai could have easily addressed all the issues with this car, but then a good percentage of us would not have purchased this car. It would have had the same MSRP as the G37!

you would be surprised how shitty they are for "holding" you lol
I liked the looks of the hard leather, but I always had trouble staying in same place with my stock 240 seats Oh and yeah, I agree with grey on them wearing.
