Hardcore > Hardstyle
I love them both. Can't wait to go to a huge party somewhere in Europe!

Check out Q-Dance.NL for all the crazy parties. Simply AMAZING!

Q dance is the ****. Second favorite to Qlimax is the Sensation series of Festivals. I miss Sensation Black. It was way more hardcore. It used to be White and Black with Sensation White being more trance and Black being more Hardstyle.

Also Defqon1 is amazing:

How about some dubstep? This guy is from my home town. It's harder than Skrillex.

Above and Beyond is my personal favorite. Vocal trance is the tits. I grew up with trance and older style techno that you don't really hear anymore.

Gotta admit I listen to quite a bit of dubstep (NOT brostep!) in the car, only because it's bass heavy. I like a smooth bassline, none of that in-your-face-rage-rage-rage stuff (unless I'm at a show, of course). I was pretty disappointed with shambahlahbalhbla 2011.

Girl Unit puts out some huge bangers.

I have been really digging Caribou lately. Might be a bit "soft" compared to other electronic styles, but I reserve the heavy **** with crazy mixing for bands like Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Genghis Tron, tear your freaking head off!

never really thought about how many other guys on here listen to electro, but i've been a pretty big fan for the last 4 years or so now that I've gotten older and 'grew out' of hip hop (realized it's garbage)

Excision - Shambhala ( 2010 Dubstep Mix ) [ part 1 / 6] - YouTube
I favor electro dance over dubstep or hardstyle but excision is pretty good, saw him in concert with deadmau5 a few months ago and seeing him at his own concert this march, can't wait
oh and goin to barstool blackout a week after that, for those of you who've heard of it.

I wouldn't say all hip hop is garbage. I think that is just a result of having so much bad music, which makes the good stuff hard to find and generally less popular (gets all hidden away). The same could be said about hardcore, metal, or other rock sub-genres in general.

I personally really dig MF DOOM/Danger Mouse/Madlib and others in that sphere. Shad is also an awesome artist who writes stuff that actually makes sense. Can't forget about good old Wu Tang either.

I'm sure there are good hiphop artists out there, but they weren't the ones i listened to at the time lol. I always listened to more mainstream stuff like lil wayne, rick ross, etc. and one day i realized... wtf am i listening to lol. and that was about the same time i started going to a new gym that always has Sirius/XM BPM (an electro dance music station) playing and i started really liking the music they played, that sparked my interest in electro and it's just grown over time.

once in a while I'll still put on a hiphop station when I'm driving, simply because half the time i find half the **** they play on the radio so bad that it's actually funny.

The college scene came up with it, I would assume. It's painful when you see it live. All you see are people fist pumping.

Nah. BC is far! I have a couple friends who went, though. I was just talking about the mix.

I don't really make it to anything outside of LA. Almost went to EDC, but I heard it was like a daycare with all the kids running around. Glad I didn't. I'd love to attend one of the massive shows/festivals though. Especially one in europe .

Nice! I like all genres of electro myself. Last summer I had the privilege to work with Deadmau5's step brother and went out to dinner one night with him, his girl friend and his mom who was visiting from Niagara falls. The stories I heard about Deadmau5... Not to mention the reason he came up with his name is because he found a dead mouse in his pc.

That I can understand. Sounds good otherwise though.

I like Electro a lot too. Just haven't listen to it much since the late 90's. Can anyone post a list of artist I could look up to get back into it? I typically like stuff similar to the 90's originals, trance, Dance, Pure Techno, with occassional flares into Hypnotic if the feelings right. I have been kind of "eh" on Dubsteb, but Skrillex has helped to ease me into it more. I like Dubstep to have some trance/Dance feel alongside the hard bass drops and not just bass that blows my head apart. Thanks.

Oh, and Avicii Levels is awesome! Also been listening to Daft Punk recently.

I've heard so many Levels remixes that I cringe whenever I hear the lyrics.

@WildBill. This has a huge 90's feel.

Check out the top 100's
Top 100 progressive trance*Artists | DJTUNES

Top 100 techno*Artists | DJTUNES

progressive house*Charts | DJTUNES Top 100

Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto are 3 popular DJ's.
Here is one of my favourite DJs.

Here's a couple older ones.

Remember these ones?

Old 90's I can think of off the top of my head:

Corona
BKS
Culture Beat
Tecnotronic
Real Mccoy
Haddaway
Shamen
Grid
Fun Factory
Chris Sheppard
Love inc.
Daft Punk

Hope that triggers something.

PS: Who needs guitars anyways?

@Moley

Awesome, thanks! I will go back through those to get myself back up to speed. I forgot about Scooter. Big Scooter fan from his older stuff. Newer stuff is hit or miss unfortunately but fire is always fun when it comes on my iPods random rotation.
