I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by the rave reviews the FR-S and BRZ have gotten out of the gate. I thought these cars would be a total flop so maybe the great reviews will pull more people into the showroom. I'm thinking these smaller, lightweight sports cars are going to be the new trend going forward in order to comply with the tree hugger standards. As long as the price stays under 30k, I could see more players entering this market in the near future.

Autonet.ca has the BRZ at MSRP $42,340 available June 2012.

Meh, I take all pricing with a grain of salt until I hear it straight from the horses mouth.

I was reading somewhere that it's going to be priced 24k for the base and 27k for the premium.

what surprises me the most is that the BRZ manages such low fuel economy... it pretty much matches the 2.0 GC. and this is supposed to be an extra-small, extra-light car with a lower powered engine.

low as in bad, or low as in 1.2l/100km's? Because if it gets fuel economy ala GC, then I say low as in bad and would rephrase it as lousy.

I'd just like to say, I'm very eager to drive this car, I love everything Yamaha

I got the chance to check out a BRZ this weekend. Pretty cool car. Not as small as I thought it would be. Its no GC, but its not Miata sized either.

The interior of the BRZ isn't as bad as I was expecting actually. It's a good looking little car. Hope they come out with F/I model in the future. A targa top would be awesome, but won't happen.

I was waiting for the FR-S to release, and test drove a 2.0t gen last May and nearly bought it. I loved it actually, wasn't fast but it was a blast to drive. The non 60/40 split folding rear seat (I snowboard a lot and need somewhere to put it) and lack of roof racks were the main reason I bought my WRX instead.

Although I'm pretty interested in the 13' gen since the power has been upped so much. They are uglier IMO, but I'll still go test drive one when they come to town, along with a BRZ/FR-S. I love AWD, but RWD is fun too, just not in the mountains lol

Looks like the full owners manual is out now for viewing and download and a commentary video is also available.

That was a rumor that everyone jumped on supposedly. The official word is that they're going to be building a lot more.

Also, pricing was leaked today. Courtesy of ft86club.com

IMO it's about 1.5-2k higher than I was expecting. Guessing the BRZ will be 26-28k.

I got to see a silver BRZ and red FT86 at the Calgary Auto Show this weekend. Damn it looks better in person. Not sure if I'm willing to trade the wrx in for one as AWD is nice to have in Canada, and with the 2013 gen coupe having 274 now, the FRS/BRZ would have to be a damn fun car to drive.

I'll be test driving one when it comes out though, that's for sure.

So the pricing is right in line with the new Gencoupe. Might be a really good choice for the wife's new car. If they don't do something really stupid with the Can. pricing.

I have no clue what Toyota is thinking...
2013 Scion FR-S priced from $24,930 [UPDATE]
starting at $24,930 including destination, I was expecting the Scion version would cost considerably less.

Like what? They really couldn't have made it any cheaper. Really only have a 2 to 3 K max window before you start getting to close to the TC and possibly effecting its sales. The good thing here is that this is offered by both Scion an Subaru. For those with less than perfect credit or needing to build credit, the Scion with the pure pricing is an easy target to aim for. No haggle, no problem. For the rest of us paying cash, financing with good credit, and or who are good at the dealer buying game and patient, the Subaru base model should be roughly around the same area with the limited a couple grand more. This means at worst you can work a limited for to the 25K range and at worse you could work a base Premium model down to the 20 to 23K target most people wanted. The trick will be willing to wait until the end of this year to get the best deals and be outside that initial "got to have it now" rush where limited supply will make prices firm from the dealer or possibly "adjusted".

+1
I expect another $2k-$2.5k for Can. prices. Any more than that and I won't even consider it,any less than that (and I will be very pleasantly surprised) and it's on the very short list for the wife's new car.
