Yeah. I remember this from last season. Has anyone seen Webber's big crash from last season?

yup, it's crazy strong until a point, then it's like "peace bitch" and self-destructs.

I like how it barely looks like the car moves when they blow. The car must be a hair off the ground. Also why is the guy still trying to steer away from the wall with no tires??

Wow, at least it was a nice smooth stop. Bet the driver is glad for that.

I'd have the same reflex; "No way to know for sure, maybe I still have brake rotors, I'll try to steer the car away from the wall with those, yeah that might work, what the hell else can I do right?"

Less mass same amount of torque applied. They would pick up seed after leaving the car.

What torque? Since when did F1 switch to AWD???

There is no torque applied to the front wheels... If anything they are maintaining their speed and the car is slowing down due to the chassis friction against the track... Giving the impression that the wheels accelerated forward when they came off.

Do you want me to give you a physics lesson?? There is torque on the wheel (it wouldnt be spinning if it wasnt) and the weight applied to that wheel just got alot less when they broke off. F = ma ... Torque is the force on the wheel so if F is the same and the mass (weight) is less then acceleration would be greater. If you think non driven wheels dont have torque being applied to them then your mistaken.

Actually its not torque but inertia/momentum. Rotational energy of the wheel intially is loaded by the car. When that load is removed the wheel maintains its velocity and is slowed by a smaller frictional force than the rest of the car. Wheel is not accelerating which requires force it just experiences a reduction in counter forces.

As far as non drive wheels experiencing rotational torque not really. Non drive wheels experience friction and centripetal force from what i remember. And if you use F:ma your mass is the wheel and is constant. There is no applied torque to a free spinning wheel.

You still both wrong... your not looking an the entire system of a moving object (the car).

Ok front tire gets its motion from torque applied to it by the road.

The mass of the system is of the entire car. The mass of the whole car is keeping the wheels from moving any faster then the rest of the car.

The instance the front wheel seperate from the car they have the same torque (provided by foward movement and its contact with the road) but just shed a **** ton of mass (the rest of the car). So what was one system is now 3 seperate systems.

Your arguement about the weight of the wheel remains the same only would make sense if the tire was spinning faster. I never said the tire spun faster after releasing from the car but that its foward velocity would be faster off the car then on the car.

Let say you have a 4 wheel car and you apply 100lb/ft to the front wheels and then messure the instantaneous velocity of the car. Now take those same wheels by themselves and apply 100lb/ft to them and messure their instantaneous velocity. The velocity of the wheels alone would be faster then when attached to the car. This is what you seeing.

I will chime in, you are dead wrong. Go take Physics over again. The tire has no forward force applied to it once it leaves the car, or as Einstein would say, it cannot gain more mass.

You know nothing of the physics of something rotating. I never said it had more mass. The force applied to the wheel is from the ground as it rotates or do rotating wheels not roll. You should re-read what I wrote over again.
