Default RMR - Technical Questions?

I'm the team engineer for RMR. If anyone has any questions about the cars, events from the past year, or any other technical questions, I'd be happy to answer.

I for one would like to say that I am glad that RMR is becoming so active on the boards.

We might want to move this to General Discussion for more visibility. I am sure people have questions to ask.

Agreed that having you guys active on the forums is great.

What do we have to do to get the Tau V8 to fit? Anything major like cutting the firewall or a new sub frame? Perhaps a DIY?

Thanks for the compliments everyone. RMR is very happy to be a part of the community.

As for the V8, actual body/frame modifications are very minimal. The frame rail width between coupe and sedan is approximately the same. If you watch the build videos you will see a very stock-looking engine bay. Two major packaging issues are that the depth of the engine bay is a few inches shorter in the coupe than the sedan and the front of the subframe needs extensive modifications to clear the larger oil pan and heat exchanger/filter mount. Engine bay depth primarily affects core support/radiator mounting.

All things considered, the V8 packages surprisingly well in the Coupe.

Robert, do you have the tire and wheel specs of the white 3.8 you guys modified a couple of years ago?

Insideline did a review of the car at one point.

It was white, KW coils, black enkei RPF1 wheels.

Just want to know what size/offset/tires were on that car.

...this one

Thanks for the information. For the conversion, how was engine management (ECU) and body control (BCM) achieved? Aftermarket, custom, Hyundai provided?

Did the conversion retain all stock "creature comfort" features?

The RM460 is at our shop, and is used as a show car when we are at the track.

All production ECU's are retained, and the harnesses were modified to accommodate the changes. That part of the integration is an RMR and HATCI joint-effort.

All creature comforts are retained.

I've asked the sales guys to check the records as I am on the racing side. Either I or Eric or AJ will reply with the info.

They are Enkei RPF1 that we painted black and are sizes 18 x 8.5 +30 and rear 18 X 9.5 +15. I hope this helps. We have a +22 to be optimal for this car, but they are not offered for the RPF1, but they offer them in their GTC01 wheel in 19's. We can also get Wheels from Rays, Volk Racing, WEDS, and HRE.

here's a question: whats a guy gotta do to have Mr. Mitchell Peterson call or email back?

He comes highly recommended by not just RMR, but by AEM and another independent car enthusiast with a SICK, SICK Lotus Exige, Frank. Any suggestions?

how did you compensate for the geometry change with your lowering package? all of your current racing campaigns appear to require quick steering feedback and maximum suspension effort. things that seem/feel lost when lowering with springs and coils due to the reduction in dynamic travel. however your cars still appear lowered and appear to roll at a predictable angle (pikes peak special not included).

also are your v6 mounts going to be produced. rumor was that the custom mounts pushed the engine back nearly 2 inches. for serious track coupes with no interior this would be a desirable product.

when are we gonna see some GT class action from RMR? is Rhys your only driver or are you putting more ppl in more seats?
