Colorado vehicles are emission exempt the first 5 years after manufacture. Then its every two years and all you have to do is drive by the sniffer vans that sit next to highway on ramps (their location cycles throughout colorado during the year).
We've had a very mild winter, and I am using mine as a daily driver. I've got wheels on the way that I'm going to mount performance all seasons. The roads are decent. Not the best not the worst. There are some spots to avoid, and then there are some roads you HAVE to drive on (mostly canyon drives and such). There are some amazing twisty/fun roads in colorado, but in the cities you're looking at straight roads and grids. One other thing, depending on city, cops here can be very strict and out in force. They don't make much off of taxes, so they supplement by setting up speed traps. That doesn't stop the majority of drivers and traffic in general driving 10mph over the posted limit, and you're usually safe at 5-7 over the limit, especially since out speedo's read high.

Sweet! We need more Gens out here who are actually in to the scene. I keep seeing them around more and more but they're always stock and the people driving them don't really seem into the car as much as just driving something with some nice ammenities... And Joe my neighbor said that wasn't her so next time you see that thing get their butt on here!

I'm flying back into town in a few days. I'm down for a get together. I may be picking up roots and moving to seattle in the next month or so... not sure what's going to happen but Colorado as a home seems to have a limited number of days left.

sniffer vans? do they do a physical inspection of the vehicle? read codes ect?
the cop thing is the same down here in florida...they are all over the place! kinda getting used to it. In PA they were nowhere to be found (in the NE anyway) and backroads were the best. i cant wait to get onto some mountain roads.

The sniffer vans are new (within the last 2-3 years). They used to put your car on dyno's and read codes/sniff your car in a facility. Now if you run by the sniffers 2 or 3 times (not sure which) within the year of your inspection you and you pass, then you don't have to come in for an actual inspection. It's pretty awesome actually.

For Genni...
This is what I experience in my car. I could get it to happen in 4th and 6th gears this morning coming to work. Oddly enough it didn't happen in 5th gear. I can feel it through the shifter and can sometimes here a low rumble from the rear passenger side of the car. It only lasts a second or 2. I didn't feel it in the shifter in your car. http://www.gencoupe.com/2-0t/46671-6...ion-surge.html Sounds like maybe this is your issue?? http://www.gencoupe.com/wheels-tires...75-85-mph.html and Vibration on deceleration - Hyundai Genesis Forum The above link was interesting. Apparently his dive shaft was out of alignment and a small washer fixed the issue by bringing it into proper alignment. I would like to ride as a passenger in your car to feel the vibrations you and Ritchie were talking about as I didn't really feel any steering wheel shake or anything through the shifter (at least not as noticeable as mine and mine is very subtle.) From reading through all of these things, if they have rebalanced the wheels using this road force machine thingy and rotated the drive shaft to try and balance, it sounds like the next step people have (in some cases) gotten HMA to do is replace the entire drive shaft - although this does not seem to have completely resolved the issue. There is a TSB on balancing the wheels with the road force machine to resolve this issue but again if that has been done it sounds like a drive shaft issue. Things to try (that may help): Have them swap the wheels and tires from a new coupe onto yours - rules out the wheel/tire balance issue. Get it up to 85 and then pop it into neutral and let it coast - should rule out transmission issue Make sure you don't brake - rules out rotor and caliper issue (I don't think this is it but it may help your case)

interesting...so you just roll by and they sniff your exhaust as you go by? how weird...do they pull you over atleast? and do the sniffer there?
i'm imagining a big blood hound...sniffing cars as they go by...and then barking at an offender.

Soooo..... Among other things....Assuming Genni gets fixed, I was thinking maybe a spring break cruise to Havasu or Vegas? If we go to Havasu we could all pitch on a houseboat or a ski boat to rent....Just a thought?

So apparently I was wrong on the license plate cover. I got pulled over today on the way to work and the cop (after looking at his rule book for 25 minutes) cited me for having the cover. $100 and a 3 point violation. I checked the state code and it is a $100 fine but I can't find anything about the points so looks like I get to make yet another visit to the city court. Doesn't appear to be a primary offense either and dude didn't have any reason to pull me over so we'll see how it goes. Frickin' hick town that I work in...

My bro lives in Vegas and I have made that drive once. There is a real nice stretch of interstate that cuts through the corner of AZ. You go from St. George Utah down into the Nevada desert through a really cool canyon.
