Default Eibach Sportline Plus Kit ( springs and sway bars )install on 2012 Base model

HI guys,
Yesterday I installed the Eibach Sportline Plus kit on my 2012 base model 2.0t gen coupe. I'm not going to post a full install walkthrough because there are already several other suspension swap walkthroughs available on this forum ( just search! that's what I did ! ). Here are some pics from the install and a couple of install pointers, and a short review of this kit. Overall i'm very pleased!

Install difficulty: 6/10

Time to complete install: 5-6 hours if it's your first time for the springs and swaybars, probably about 3 hours if you have skills!

Tools needed:
Spring compressors
Electric impact wrench ( go buy one from harbor freight, it is absolutely necessary for compressing the springs )
17mm box wrench
19mm box wrench
12mm box wrench
10,12,13,14,17,19mm sockets
torque wrench or breaker bar
A couple of socket extensions
Socket wrench
Jack stands ( at least 2 )
A good jack
An x-acto knife ( for cutting the rear bump stops )
Wheel chocks, i just use rocks or a piece of wood

This is what you get with the kit:
Eibach Sportline Springs:

New Eibach front bump stops ( the OEM rear bump stops are trimmed and reused, Eibach includes instructions on how to do this )

NEw Eibach bump stop and dust boot assembled

Close up of one of the Sportline springs, this is a rear spring

The Eibach Swaybar kit:

Unboxing-

The complete kit unboxed:

Eibach's claims..( we will see Eibach, we will see... )

I never knew the bars were individually serial numbered?

New urethane sway bar bushings to replace the OEM rubber units:

Here are a couple of shots from the install process:

Eibach rear springs vs OEM rear springs- the height doesn't appear much different when uncompressed, but it's all about how the spring is wound..

Don't forget to grease your bushings! ( Eibach includes 2 tubes of grease with the kit if you buy it new )

Powdercoat finish- looks really nice! Also a close up of the adjustment holes on the rear bar:

EIbach rear bar vs OEM base model rear bar- very noticeable difference in size!

Rear Sportline Spring and swaybar installed. The rear on this car is VERY easy to do, no spring compressors necessary.

Front spring installed on strut assembly. The front of this car is also very easy to do. Unlike other cars where the strut top hardware is multiple pieces and you have to remember how to reassemble them correctly, this car's strut top hardware is a single unit made of multiple pieces. It comes off as one whole unit, you'll never have to worry about if you put something on in the wrong order ( Ahem.. VW and AUDI, PAY ATTENTION to HYUNDAI! )

Don't forget, you'll definitely need an impact wrench and spring compressors to do the front. Go to Harbor Freight and buy one. Yes electric is not as good as air powered, but you don't need some giant air compressor either. Yes they are heavier and you need a long extension cord. But bottom line- THEY WORK. This is the one I use:
Electric Impact Wrench - 1/2"

Eibach front sway bar vs OEM front sway bar

Front springs installed:

Front sway bar installed:

Ride height before install:

Ride height after install:

I am sure the springs will settle a few more millimeters over the next few days , i'll get good pics of the final height this weekend after alignment.

Initial review:
These things ride like stock about 90% of the time. They literally ride as smooth as the OEM base model springs, but when you go over speed bumps or deep pot holes, you can feel a bit more harshness than stock. Basically all body roll is gone, the car did not have a lot of roll to begin with, but what was there is surely gone now. I set the front bar to the least stiff setting, and the rear to the most stiff, and it feels perfect to me so far! My alignment was not affected too much, the car does not pull or have any bad manners post install, but i'm going to get aligned anyway in case my toe alignment is not right. I picked up this kit for $457 shipped to my door from ImportShark and i am very very pleased! I am definitely really happy with the ride quality , and the car feels much more sporty and nimble than on the base suspension. I'll update this review down the road with a longer term impression, as of right now i've only had the suspension on for under 24 hours. No regrets though, it's a great kit!

I hope this was helpful to anyone considering an Eibach kit

I would really prefer to just do springs and be done with it. But im worried about making the ride harder than it already is. Same ride, im fine with, hair softer, im fine with, hair harder, I do not want.

Stance looks good man.

Good write up but you definitely do not need an impact wrench. I plan on buying the Pro-Kit soon.

I've had the Pro Kit and sways for 2 years now and have really enjoyed them. The ride is far more controlled and body roll is nonexistent.

On the Wisconsin roads I feel like the struts won't last more than 60k miles, but it's been great so far!

Op- you have softest setting for front and firmest for rear ? How does it feel compare to stock? With eibach instruction- firmest is not recommend when running in rain or bumpy road.
I just bought the anti-roll kit as well, need advice

How else do you compress the spring compressors? Using hand tools? You must have arms like any random cast member from 300 LOL!

Other than this, there is nowhere else that requires the impact wrench.

It feels really nice compared to stock I wouldn't pay much attention to Eibach's warnings about wet weather, that's for people that don't know how to drive. I've driven cars with far stiffer setups than this and never had an issue. The softest setting in front is still stiffer than the stock front swaybar. The car feels great, not harsh or bouncy, it's just a but bumpy over really bad roads. Once i have the alignment done I will push it much harder to see how it really handles.

Holy back to the future. How'd you get your hands on a 2023?

All kidding aside, nice write up and full of helpful information for anyone considering doing it themselves.

Anyone with the sportlines, which I plan on getting, did you have to make any adjustments to stock wheels, either 18" or 19", i.e. spacers?

Lowered on stock wheels it will look better with spacers IMO. Or else the wheels are really sunk into the car. I'm lowered on sportlines and have 20mm spacers all around, it looks great.

+1.

I will be putting on my prokit this weekend on stock 18's which already have 20mm front and 25mm rear spacers. I'll post up some pics.
