Greetings!

With the year coming to an end, I thought what better way to end this year with an SFR tuning event! We are looking to begin gauging interest for the next SFR tuning event and I’m hoping we can get Jay out here before the end of the year. I figured, the more people, the better the chances of that happening!
I’ve been posting on FaceBook and have already received 10 people that are interested within 24 hours. With that said, I’m hoping we can get this thing going before the year ends. So tell your friends or anyone who might be interested and make this happen.

As we have always done, location and date will be TBD but it appears the majority of the people are in the Houston area. If you are interested in participating in an SFR tuning event, please post the following information in a reply or send to me in a PM if you have not already and are not on the list provided below that will be updated periodically:

First Name:

Last Name:

Year, Engine, Trans:

Current Engine Performance Mods:

Current Location:

Any Other Cities Willing to Travel to for Tuning?:

Currently Tuned by SFR (Yes or No)?:

If yes, canned or custom?:

If no, tuned with another company or stock tune?

Are you interested in a Canned or Custom Tune?

The last event here had these prices. I’m not sure if they are still the same but I will post them to give you an idea at what kind of price you will be spending. This will change once I get a reply from Jay.

Custom tunes require a $200 deposit.
Canned tunes require a $100 deposit.

Please make your deposits to Jay at sfrusa@yahoo.com

Hey jay. Last time you were in town i got your canned tune on my 3.8 bk1 rspec.
The main points i wanted a tune were
:throttle response improvement
:higher rpm limit
:higher speed limiter
:no rev-hang
:standing burnouts. (I can't push on the brake pedal while pushing on the throttle without the traction control kicking in)

I got the fisrt 3 but i still have rev hang as well as not being able to powerbrake.
Also is there a way to adjust the rev limiter to where it doesn't bog down for such a long time. For instance when other cars hit the rev-limiter it just holds there at the limit, but ours drop down 500 rpm and take a few seconds to recover.
Also. I was thinking of adding a notorious setup with headers. What specific requirements would you need from me to tune that?

Thanks mason

Hello Mason. There really isn't something we can do to have no rev hang unfortunately. Unless you change your hardware components such as flywheel to lightweight, replace light weight pulleys, etc that we can only do the part that's related to ECU only.
Standing burn out should not be a problem as if even cars with stock tune can do it. Unless some tire/wheel complication that's upsetting the ECU or something (I am sure you know this but Traction control must be turned off while you are trying to do this).

Thanks

I believe we have one deposit so far. We have to get at least 9 more new tunes before we can call a shop to set-up a date for the meet. If you have made a deposit, please make a post with your name so I can highlight the people who have made their deposits in "green". This will make it easier to see how many people have deposited.

When you make your deposit, I would also suggest you include which engine you have/key or push start/ manual or auto/ and what stage tune you want if you are going with a canned tune. I would also put whether or not you want the extra ecu option with or without vin coding.

Thanks and let me know in the thread when you make your deposits!

I just had two pending questions to Jay in PM, one of which I think you may be able to answer in regards to the deposits.

I'll be getting a spare 3.8 ECU with a canned tune, so I know the $380 will need to be paid in advance to secure the ECU.
When I pay the $100 deposit, can I pay $280 shortly after to secure the ECU?

Or do I pay an additional $380, and then the deposit comes back to me later at the tune event? Just want to make sure I do this correctly the first time.

Bump the date to the next weekend and I will send a deposit

#65 ·
Do we need to send a picture of our ECU tag when we send the money for the spare ECU, or can that information be pulled at the the tuning event?

#79 · (Edited)
Do you have paypal? If not, create a paypal and link up your bank account to it.

Once this is done, you just send the funds by simply clicking the "Pay or send money" button at the top.

Choose "Pay for Goods and Services" and key in Jay's paypal info provided earlier in the thread. Just send the necessary deposit to him at sfrusa@yahoo.com

I would recommend leaving Your Name, year/make/model of your car, auto/manual/ vin number if looking to order another ECU, and what mods you have and what canned tune you want.

Once you deposit, please post back letting me know so I can mark you off the list. We are trying to fulfill at least 10 deposits by Dec. 1st so we can start calling shops and get a good shop with a good dyno.

I thought by default the tune did not effect the cruise control?

From the website:
- Since we are modifying your stock data, everything will be perfectly functional(including cruise control) while you get much better throttle response, increase in hp/torque, rev limiter raised, Speed limit released, TCU fully functional, etc..

It would be good to have a confirmation, but that is one of the reasons my interests stayed peaked when I was researching the tune.
