Default Maximum Width For Front Tires

I want to do a 245/45/19 winter tire setup all around. I know that the stock tires are 225/40/19 in the front and 245/40/19 in the rear.

Is a 245/45/19 setup going to rub?

Depending on your offset it might rub. I'm running 255 upfront with my Forgestars and I'm rubbing on high radius turns like backing out of my driveway.

Why are you doing a 245 square setup? You will loose steering input and increase the probabilities of "floating" on snow due to the wider tires. Winter tires are all about compromises and knowing what works best for your particular region (snow, ice, rain, slush, temperatures, etc.).

I would recommend sticking to OEM sizes or go with a square 225 or 235 setup.

Again, it's all about offset. If you have an aggressive fitting wheel you'll be able to run a 9" rim with 255 tires without rubbing. If you go conversative on the offset, you'll rub.

even if it fits, using that wide of a tire for a winter tire is dumb. skinnier the better. it cuts through the snow.

wide = floats.

215/225 is my suggestion for winter tires.

I have a great deal on a set of 245/45/19 Blizzak tires. I was going to buy 18" rims and do the staggered 225/45/18 and 245/45/18, but that would cost 3x as much as just getting the 19" tires from someone I know.

Ideally I wanted to do the 18" setup, but economically, I'm trying to just go w/ the best deal that won't get me killed over the winter.

The offset would be +35 from the stock rims. I was going to get a new set of rims for the summer and just use the stock rims for winter tires.

245/45 are HUGE.

225/40 to 245/45 is 6% larger.

not only will they float, there will also be little room in the tire well for snow to fall off. it will just pack your wheel well, and eventually you won't be able to turn.

its not worth it, even cheaping out.

putting a square setup with insanely wide tires on the car in the winter is like first-degree stupidity. putting 245's on a 225 rim in order to accomplish this is like the 3rd-degree.

i got 255/35/19s on 19.5 +17 offset in the front (be advised that these are NOT winter tires). I had to raise my car a bit, from being slammed, to prevent it from rubbing. With a little bit of camber, i'll be able to lower it back down again without it any rubbing issues. I'm getting an alignment tomorrow. After that...i'll be posting pictures.

let us not forget that the TCS/abs system is going to be FUBar'd!!! and you kinda need that in the snow.

you can not run a square set up on the coupe...havent we gone through this before?

You can run a square setup but your rear tires will need a bigger side wall.
