Snow tires on all 4 wheels?

Those of you with snow tires: do you run them on the back only or on all four wheels? The owners manual says you must have snows on all 4 wheels or the handling is adversely affected. CYA liability BS or the straight poop? Inquiring minds want to know.

I tried to search this, but there were about 10 million snow tire threads.

I fail to see why anyone would consider only running them on the back wheels.

I run them on all four corners.

Yup, 4 winters. If you want you can put em on the back only, that way we can laugh at you when you send your car careening into the ditch when it failed to corner and the back tires kept pushing you.

car isn't FWD.

front wheels only do 1 job, steering.
rears do the propulsion

The hell? You have to put them on all 4 tires... its all about traction. Having summers on the front or rear only is a nice recipe for disaster..

And yet tire chains are on the back wheels only. What's the difference?

In reality, 86.7% of the turns I make on the way to work are left turns, so I was wondering about just putting snows on the left side, but I was hesitant to post that question for fear that someone having a bad day (or life) might reply with a triple face palm, or even worse, the dreaded "SEARCH BUTTON CIRCLED IN RED WITH ARROWS". Oh well.

front wheels = braking/turning
back wheels = accelerating

if you only want to do 1 of those things, only do 1 axle.

Nobody said driving around on just tire chains is a good idea. The proper way is to have snow tires on all 4 corners and tires chains as a supplement.
Snow tires on rears for traction
Snow tires on front for traction that allows you to steer. Otherwise you end up with two big skates on the front as the snow packs in the tread blocks

Unless you have a LSD, then forward traction fail.

1 Wheel fire = fail
And brake steer like a mofo
And yes, good chance that insurance won't cover if you get into an accident because of this
