Through searching many many threads on pad/line/rotor upgrades for the stock brembo brakes, many questions to vendors have arose about the possibility of prototyping and producing aftermarket upgrades for those of us with the non-brembos. Many have given a nay due to a lack of demand, but it appears to me that there is a good amount of scattered demand for such upgrades.
Does anyone else feel me on this and not feel like spending thousands and thousands for brembos, stoph-tech, etc... Im sort of unsatisfied with my stock brakes and really wish that SOMEONE will put something a good upgrade out there that won't break the bank too insanely... anyone else with me on this? ![]()

When you say upgrades are you looking for better calipers? Larger rotors? Steel braided lines?

better calipers, more options for the rotors (larger/drilled/slotted)
i guess alot of aftermarket companies have not put in the time to R&D this thinking there would be more of a demand for the track model... while its clear that the majority of the coupes on the road are non brembo

A reasonable upgrade would include more aggressive pads and stainless lines. I don't know how many pad options are out there for the oem brakes at the moment. There is no reason to upgrade to slotted/drilled or bbk for most people.

Had to replace braided lines on my datsun 4x in 2 years. Switched back to OEM lines and 2 years with out problems. That one is gone now .OEM lines are braided, but the nylon braid is actually incased in the hose.

I NEED bigger brakes: after trying out a friend's Brembo equipped car, it's a given who has the better brakes. And this does NOT mean just track/race time, I'm talking the overall daily driver brake feel. I invite all the non Brembo owners to take a test ride in a Brembo car, see if you agree. I 'm going with brakes, discs, lines, the works. This is for safety man! Next, rear 24 mm torsion bar, Torsen diff, then... I'll get medieval on the engine...

I'm down for some rotor options . . possibly calipers if it doesn't break the bank. Spending 2K on Stoptech or a Brembo upgrade is not money well spent IMO.

i have Brembo caliper kit, slotted Brembo rotors, KPR lines and the required rear splash guard/backing plate sitting in the garage awaiting spring.
Stainless braided lines will help with pedal feel. The lines are the same for Brembo and non-brembo cars, Id start there as they are widely available.

Most high performance pad manufacturers can cut the pads if they have the dimensions and from the look of Hawk's website, the front pads on the brembos are pretty much the same as the STI and EVOs and the rears're pretty much the same as the Viper's

Brake lines aren't suppose to swell. If they do, then its a failing brake line. Again I say, OEM lines are braided, its just that the braid isn't exposed.
