Will not shift out of Park!!!!!

I am new to Gencoupe so please bear with me. I have read every form I can find and no one else has had my problem. 2010 Bone stock 2.0t with AT ESC Off light stays on will not shift from park unless you over ride the switch and then it is in fail safe mode. replaced brake light switch that was bad. I seen the same thing in the 3.8 forum and it was a mechatronic in the tranny but I question my local service guy and he informed me that my tranny did not show that particular part in in so any help here would greatly be appreciated.

You blew a fuse. It happened in my 2008 elantra. I had extra current going into my tail light from some wiring and it kept blowing a fuse. Turns out that fuse controlled the brake light switch along with the ESC. Go in and replace that fuse.

In the mean time, use the shift release with a pen or a key that's next to your shift knob. Push down on the shift release and then shift out of park. Hope this helps!

I also get a U 0101 code that states lost connection to the ESC. Thanks for the replies but so far still stuck in failsafe when I shift over ride.

Get your brake switch replaced, it was recalled. The brake switch isn't sending signal to the shift lock release, also you won't have brake lights. Pump the brakes in the meantime

This may seem like a silly question... but have you checked the fuses?

Test the brake switch. It is really simple. A continuity/resistance test would show you if the switch is functional and bypassing the switch will tell you if it is truly the switch or not.

thanks guys. Yeah so I installed the new brake switch and still same issue. Yes the brakes go on when you press the pedal. Only way to shift car out of park is the emergency pin and then the car drives in third gear only. Car is auto. scratching my head. this **** is a nightmare. Any help from anyone that leads directly to me fixing this issue and I will send you $50 asap for the tech support advice. Once the car is back to normal with your solution. PLEASE HELP.......

Ive contacted Jay Kim at SFR and no help, his response was go find a local shop. anyway I am local to Fort Lauderdale area and can bring it in to a Hyundai specialist but just not the dealer. They tried to sell me a new pcm and tcm $1,100 each only to get to what the real problem is. LIKE WTF

Had another car do something similar. There is a solenoid that normally engages and disengages to shift the lever out of park. Has that solenoid been verified?

if it works with bypass and you are able to drive fine, then I would assume that the shifting gate assembly is the issue.

If it's just the solenoid... it should be part of the shift assembly.

I rather use fourgreen.com, but they seem to be out of the interlock solenoid or the shifter assembly.

If you want to know where to solenoid might be. It is inside the shifter assembly.

As soon as I get it and hopefully confirm that was the prob I will paypal you as promised and I will also confirm on here what my fix was for the next people who need it.
