Dyno Tuned...

Thanks to Bill we got my coupe dyno'd today after going to 2 dyno shops. I'm happy that my A/F is nice and steady but was hoping for more power out of my MODS. Used a Mustang Dyno and did 4th and 5th gear pulls. Temp was around 85-90 degrees.

Tail pipe and that was on deceleration not acceleration, when i bailed on the 5th
gear run before i had reached the 7200 end which is all the red and black at the
end of the log but it still recorded the AFR.. keep in mind i don't tune from the
dyno AFR i tune from the CMD logs which are normally a point to a point and half
lower(richer) than whats shown in the graphs.

He has the EVOX injectors and they went in flawlessly, except when someone
dropped one of the factory injectors below the car.. they flow about 680cc and i
ended up putting a -28 in the GFS which got the STFT and LTFT pretty close to 0

No Boost controller, just MODS in signature... Boosting 20psi (PA canned tune) tapers down to 16-15 at redline. Really just scaled the Evo injectors and the tune was really good. Holding a steady 11.9-12.0 A/F to redline.

He has PA base tune, HKS BOV was using stock actuator(he will be moving to
the intake manifold shortly), and the car peaks at 20 and dies off to around 12
14 pounds by redline.

That's why he only made that hp. He should of been using an ebc and manifold pressure controled bov. I made 260hp the way he has it setup, I corrected like mentioned and picked up 40hp. That was on a upgraded turbo but still.

Hopes and dreams are not going to get him 40whp by moving a BOV vac line,
a modded turbo will easily net 40whp over the stock turbo.. I believe the
problem is in the PA tune, where timing is playing a roll. and is working against
what i'm trying to do with the CMD. we will see i have very similar mods and
will be putting my car on the same dyno.

There no where to go with the CMD for him he's already at the max boost
that should be used on a stock turbo and his AFR is a steady one across the
board, bigger turbo is his next logical upgrade that for a custom(canned) BR
stage 2 tune to take advantage of some timing which i'm sure is built in on
the BR stage 2/custom tune. Oh and a side note an EBC/MBC is not better than
controlling it with the CMD which has full and precise control of boost.

BTW hows that compound turbo setup coming and you being a PA reseller/tuner

Compound turbo has been complete for.a while, the bitch was.the engine . Its.finalizing slowly. I am sending the contact back to poweraxel on monday, with the florida exclusive rights. P.s u miss understood the 40hp example. Your blaming PA on a mechanical problem. If you don't know already the stock bov actuator leaks the bov to control boost. I only had the same problem but what do I know I never hit 300hp.

Figured the numbers would have been higher. I made 252 with just TBE and tune. Good luck on sorting it out.

If I'm reading the dyno right, he had an increase of 64 whp which is pretty good.. It's on a mustang dyno which reads a lot lower than other dyno's. I had 187 to 192 whp stock on a dynojet so it would be around 251 to 256 whp with a 64 whp gain on a dynojet (I know the gains aren't ever the same from car to car, just saying depends on the dyno for how much hp it shows)

It took a real long time to build revs!! Sounded like a lot longer than it should have. The dyno could have been loaded too much.

Mods...
Tune, intake, tbe, injectors, big flat blacked intercooler, diff mount, drag tires, wot box, DEI exhaust wrapped downpipe, DEI radiator relief, soon to come... DEI cry02 intercooler sprayer and fuel chiller.

Sponsored by DEI.

I dunno man that seems kinda low. I pulled 260whp/300wtq on a PA dyno tune w/ stock turbo/fmic/injectors, and my BOV was run off the ECU, it never leaked to control boost that I saw...

was a little dissappointed but im glad my car is tuned properly now, and I'm able to beat on her. When we went to aLL jap for my base I hit I think like 256hp? and like 299tq? around there, when Bill dynod his he was showing 277hp and like 346tq? around there. so It looks like I'm missing 20 hp somewhere damnit!!! probably going to fix somethings on the car today, flip my block off plate (Bill STFU) and check for leaks, here's a front video of the dyno anyone hear any leaks?

Yes that high pitch noise is your boost leak, and i believe it's from the block
off plate(switch it like we discussed yesterday, thats all i'm saying), and put
your BOV line to the manifold as i suggested, and re-dyno this coming
weekend at Fab-Worx dyno day it's only 30 bucks for 3 pulls, thats only 10
bucks a pull

I'm only saying i believe there is something in the PA tune that is limiting the
engine, i don't know for sure, but what i did see was that the timing is
different then when i dyno my car which has almost the exact same mods.

The big issue with this car, was that it's was running 20psi on stock
injectors, which tells me the only way your going to run that much boost with
factory injectors is timing(loading up more fuel before firing(retarding)) that
will keep the car from knocking/pinging. So what happens when you finally
have enough fuel to not need as much retard?(power loss, to much fuel not
enough air and the turbo can't get a clean enough burn to increase pressure),
the lack of power is not related to any tuning i did/didn't do.

For the record i think PA did a great job tuning the car for stock injectors and
20psi, when i finally got the injectors in the car the AFR was like 11.8 across
the board with minor hiccups which i cleaned up with the CMD.

I'm going to look at the dyno more, as i felt that the runs were dragged out
some as well due to the load on the rollers, but it's all automatically
calculated by weight on the rollers, the dyno is one of those new mustang
dynos that you can do 1/4 runs on Mustang Dynamometer - MD-AWD-500
