Question Idle Tick

Hello all,

I have a 2011 Genesis Coupe 2.0T Base, automatic. At idle after the car has been driven and is fully warmed up, there's a tick coming from the engine. It doesn't tick when it's cold, and the ticking goes away as soon as you rev the engine. I found this video on YouTube that shows an identical tick.

I keep up on oil changes regularly at around 3-4k intervals using OEM filter and 5w30 oil. Previously I was using Mobil1 but my most recent change I used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. My most recent oil changes was ~600 miles ago and it is ticking. Other than a rough idle, the car runs and drives just fine.

Any ideas?

Forum won't let me post links until 5 posts...just add this after the youtube URL.

Yeah, which is why I switched brands.

Seems to happen quicker on the Pennzoil though. Not sure if that's fact or just placebo.

It sounds like a valve lifter ticking. Pour in a can of seafoam directly into the oil, run it for about 200 miles then change the oil and filter and use either 0W40 Mobile 1 European or 5W40 Castol Edge European or 5W40 Valvoline Synpower European. Pennzoil & Quaker State are Sopus product, they are good but not as good as Mobil One, Castrol Edge and Valvoline Synpower.
