exhaust flow?

hey guys, got the isis street exhaust, and after about 500 miles this still hasent changed...my driver side exhaust has one side thats pure black, and one side thats not

my passenger side is just fine

what could be causing this, there isent anything blocking the other pipe..i guess the pipe could be bent to much on the diver side. or is this because well its a I4 and only puts out so much gas lol. i have the 2nd cat removed, o2 housing is still stock. its the catback isis street exhaust.

huh weird, i wonder if running a full TBE would fix it, seeing as how more gas would be let out faster. alright well atleast im not the only one.

even if there was minimal flow through the other tip it should still go black from all the soot and carbons.. That tip is still silver, like when you first get it from the supplier.

OP, do you feel any exhaust gas from that tip? to me it looks like no exhaust is going through there whatsoever.

i do, i put my hand down over the hole and i do feel exhaust, warm even. im wondering if its a defect in the oval muffler they have, but even then the one pipe is super black on the driver side. the exhaust was crooked a little after installing (the driver stuck out more then passenger) and i fixed that by bending the hanger. but i just drove from Morrisville, NC. to Norfolk, VA. after i fixed it and still looks the same...maybe a little darker. like 2 inches into the exhaust its pure black.

i went outside just now with a piece of paper and put it over the hole, at idle it sucks air in, on both side (driver and passenger side) ill have to wait for my GF to get home to rev it and see if it shoots exhaust out both pipes on driver side.

that is pretty perplexing...... I looked up the ISIS exhaust and it basically has 1 pipe coming out of each side of the muffler into 2 tips on each side.

So I don't see where there could be a problem with flow, unless, like you said, it is something to do with the oval muffler.

that's y i cant figure it out LOL, i mean if others are having the issue, then its either related to the oval muffler, or i mean its just a I4, like i said it only shoots out so much exhaust. now with a full TBE i assume it should be fixed but....time will tell.

this is strange but I don't think it has to do with the car only being a 4 banger. I had the Greddy SE exhaust which has 4 tips, 2 on each side. and they ALL got equally dirty as **** lol.

I have thought about cutting open the muffler, i have a guy who can do it its a matter of timing. i guess my TBE idea got shot out since Znagle is running TBE just with the tsudo exhaust....i keep comming back to it maybe being a mandrel bend on the exhaust exit...or they really did just eff up the oval muffler.....

.....i guess the next question is....are we losing any HP or none at all i mean if we are its probably not noticeable.

Yeah mine hasn't changed at all. When it was CB it was silver, TB still silver. I can feel the exhaust coming out of it and can see it when it's cold as well. It gets a few specks here and there on it but I have no clue why it doesn't change. Someone else on here with the tsudo had the same problem as well and I've seen it a few times around the forums on multiple brands

bad R&D on the exhaust i guess then, either way sounds good, probably still getting a power jump due to 3" piping.

So, it’s been bugging me again lately…I’m curious if all the other people had a dent or anything on the driver side exhaust exit (mine came with one, I just hammered it out with a ball hammer)….if this is the case would anyone agree that possibly there was enough weight to maybe bend the mandrel bend on the exhaust to make it so inside exit is out of the flow channel? Because at idle I will see exhaust (when cold out) however sometime it’s sucking air in the inside exhaust pipe.

This sounds like a serious design issue here to me.

I have the Magnaflow and all mine are black. Haven't had that issue honestly on any car I have owned. I am wondering if there is a block in the muffler on that pipe??

I have the CNT V3 cat back and have the same thing. Only thing reason I can see is there is a slightly straighter path out the one pipe.

When i head over to my parents for thanksgiving, they have some jack stands hopefully i wont have to take off the exhaust again but...i agree with you on this, my driver side seems to be bent in to far. ill see if i can jack it up and while still hot take a towel or something and bend it out a little bit.
