I'm running MS3 on the 2.0. Want to know if anyone else is.

It's a parallel install so the stock ECU stays in place to handle all the acc's. The MS is doing fuel/spark/vvt/boost etc. It's actually going a lot smoother than I thought. It's going to take some substantial time to tune, but It started right up first try with all the correct settings. You have make your own throttle controller because the stock ECU limits throttle opening after almost any DTC, and use a separate coil driver for spark, and convert to traditional wastegate, there is a lot of little things. Other wise I am happy.

I thought the flywheel/flex plate has some odd nonstandard number of teeth to have MS work. guess someone got around it.

I can't speak for the auto, but the manual has a 60 tooth crank wheel with 2 of the teeth missing, so 60-2. MS has a setting just for this. I am not sure of the older versions of MS but the latest edition has all settings needed for the 2.0.

I run it on my eclipse, but I haven't thought about it for the Genesis yet.

Are you using Tunerstudio?

Any interest in doing a write up on what you have done? I think a lot of people overlook Megasquirt because of the learning curve, but it is a great tool if you are willing to put in the work.

Does MS allow you to have multiple camshaft maps depending on throttle position?

No, and I still don't know why you'd need this lol.

@JoshClifford84 , I'm really interested in doing this since I'm sure I can develop a bunch more thing than our current solution is offering us (Haltech). Is your car running full standalone or are you using the stock ECM for throttle control?

The cam maps are 2d, load vs rpm. I am using Tunerstudio. I am not sure about a write up because the throttle control issue really makes MS not an option for most. I will however answer any questions. I went with MS because its completely open source and I will be able to transfer it to almost any car when I get rid of the gen.

DTC limp mode makes the stock ECM throttle control useless, so you need to make your own or swap in a cable TB. The external control is worth it, but it is a lot of work and requires some electronics experience to build. I also have to pass NYS inspection once a year so keeping as many stock components as possible was key for easily doing this.

Which exactly why I want this. I have asked (a certain company) countless times for several features that I know their product is capable of, but I'm usually just shot down. I'm sure I could apply a lot more in terms of development for our platform if I could get one going.

I have tuned several cars running MS, and my first aftermarket ECM on a car was an MS2 on my MR2. A way to control the Gen's throttle would be great since that would be a big jump forward, and using the newly-developed GM TAC CAN implementation is a bit shoddy. Did you do it with their kind-of implementation?

Yea I am impressed with the features MS3 offers. I have been following the product since MS1 and I never had the opportunity to actually run one until recently, so this is my first build. Being that the 2.0 isn't anything fancy as far as signals/controls, I thought it was a good candidate for my first MS build. Having complete control over pretty much everything is the best part. I still have a lot of fine tuning, but that's also fun.

I am not familiar with the GM TAC CAN, but I can describe what I did. I used an off the shelf "h-bridge" motor driver and developed a PID controller for it(microcontroller and some programming in C). Basically it uses the pedal and TPS signals and moves the TB 1:1 to pedal, it's nice but it also is being fine tuned. I am struggling with closed loop idle control, I have spend very little time with it though. I will revisit that when the time comes. I run open loop idle for now.

Also, for non Rspec cars you will lose cruise control unless you incorporate that into the external throttle control.

Any interest in sharing your project files and tables so we could view them? I use Tunerstudio as well, and would be interested in seeing if I had anything to contribute. (Although it sounds like you have it all figured out)

I really wanted to use MS on the GC as I have had great experiences with it, but I'm not confident enough in my skills to be a pioneer with it. I appreciate anything you can contribute to the community as I think another tuning option would be a nice addition to this platform.

Stock ECU uses different cam maps depending on throttle position which optimizes driveability and performance.

I ordered an MS3 with an MS3x and the controller you linked me to, @JoshClifford84 , and I'm going to have my go at making the logic with an Arduino. I'm also going to be making it a PnP, since Sebastien Moreau told me the connector we use ( http://www.onlinecomponents.com/te-c...tml?p=28218036 ) and I'm going to have an interface board to go along with it to make it a PnP deal. Let's see how this goes!

This is awesome, you have been one of the more knowledgeable users on this site when it comes to the ECU and tuning side of this car. I'm interested to see what you come up with.

And damn, $50 just for the ECU connector...

Bumping this thread. Has any progress been made using the megasquirt? I've just started using it on my miata and was thinking it would be cool to use on the genesis.

2013 2.0t Base

Mods: 30mm Whiteline Front sway bar.
Yup just one.

From my understanding. it can handle and on/off type variable valvetrain, but not a progressive one.

Hyundai's CVVT = Continuous variable valve timing.
