Honestly, the part is cheap enough and from what I understand, the labor to replace is relatively simple and quick. If you are worried the disc could crap out on you and cause further damage, I would just replace it yourself and get it over with. Not worth the headache of having possible major damage occur by waiting it out, even if the dealership warranties and fixes anything that happens later due to the faulty disc. That damage will still have occurred and be included on your cars Car Fax if you ever decide to sell it, which could have adverse affects on potential buyers and resale price. Just my $.02. In the end, it is your car and you should do what you think is best since no one else will have to suffer any of the consequences of your own decision. Best of luck to you!

If I were to change it while the car was still in warranty and after they denied a warranty claim; I would take the old parts to them and my bill and ask for them to pay for it.

just change it, its 65 bucks and 20 minutes, you need jack stands, an impact gun if you have it otherwise a socket wrench and a wrench, and either a little prybar or a sturdy flat head. if you need to use a socket wrench, buy a few beers and get a friends help. all you do is undo six bolts, pry the driveshaft from the diff cuz theres a shaft that goes into the driveshaft itself. then the flex disk will fall out, bolt the new one on and put it back together. changing my damn o2 sensor was more of a PITA than changing the flex disk was, by far....... my o2 sensor is still stuck in my factory downpipe, mangled to ****

thanks guys. that was my original concern with fixing it myself and not through the dealer. if something else happens down the road and they notice it's swapped out with a non OEM part they could give me some trouble warrantying other stuff. I'm definitely leaning towards just replacing it. hopefully I'll find a winter car soon and the gen can wait it out until spring. It's nothing i can notice driving, and havent been able to get under there myself. I just hope it doesnt start to split quicker with the cold weather approaching.

they wont notice, literally the only difference is that it says made in germany vs made in korea, and i highly doubt theyll look at that

slightly off topic, but anyone by chance had the driveshaft siezed onto the stub that extends out from the Diff?
mine was siezed when i did my LSD swap 3 years ago(took me quite a bit of time to sperate the diff from the driveshaft), and i made sure it was cleaned, and lubed when i put it back,
and it turns up to be siezed again when i did my clutch last week(also notice the crack on the coupler)
thanks to AMB and +MM+, just ordered a pair of couplers from PTI, and will have to fight somemore to pull the diff and driveshaft apart later when replacing

Try getting some top notch penetrating oil and spraying the threads numerous times over the course of a day or more and see if that'll help. If not, maybe even add some heat to it. I can't remember if some of them are reverse threaded or not.

Get a 5lb dead blow hammer and give it some light taps on the flange...........it just needs some light encouragement.

DO NOT use a regular steel hammer unless you want to buy more parts.

Stay away from oil and solvents on the rubber disc unless you are replacing that aswell............oil and petroleum products will absorb and swell rubber components and cause long-term issues.
