Exclamation So many codes :( help!

@Red Raspberry and anyone else i desperately need your help. Ive read a few threads on here and nothing seems to be exactly like this issue.

about a month or so ago i had a check engine light pop up. turns out it was P0015 (b2 camshaft timing retarded or something like that). brought it to my mechanic he switched the oil out and cleared the code and i was good for another few weeks. the code came up again... then went away on its own... now its back again.
i brought it to a local hyundai dealer and they found the following codes
P0015
P0014
P0302
P0304
P0306
looks like all one side misfiring. my 2010 auto 3.8 has 68k on it. normal driving. have had a cutback and cat delete exhaust on the car for about a year with no codes ever being thrown.

the below text is an email from the service rep telling me what they planned on doing. she listed 2 quotes... one for $7200!!! This can't be real... i called hyundai usa to ask if this would be under the 8/80k emissions warranty because i live in MA. they said no.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE does anyone have any HELPFUL input?

"I've attached the quote and some updated prices. The first one is just for that one CVVT that we have a code for. The second is for all CVVTS and all camshafts. If the CVVT not updated, then we can just do the one and be good. I talked to my service director and he said we can take the labor down for the CVVT assembly, so the quote shows that.

More clarification on what the vehicle needs:
The CVVT is sort of an oil driven tensioner type of sensor that directs the timing to the computer's specifications. There are four CVVTS on 4 camshafts located in the exhaust and the intake. They work as a whole system to keep the vehicle in the correct timing and the chain running in time. If that one that we need to replace is updated, then the other will not work with it and we would then have to replace the other CVVTS and also the four camshafts. I will not know more until we get in there. I hope this helps."

has anyone heard of an up change CVVT part? when i spoke with hyundai usa they said they had no idea. shouldn't they be able to tell if a new part was put into production of a car? and if so why? what was wrong with the original? no recall?

i can't get the pic of the quote to post but can we start with this info???

Did you have the CVVT solenoids cleaned out? What's is your oil change info? Type and miles.

i didn't have them do anything to the car after they said my lowest option would cost me $3000 to replace 1 cvvt
my local mechanic uses a synthetic blend and i've been having it changed every 5k or so...

also, this is what the service entry they gave me said...

68144 VERIFIED MIL ON. SCANNED FOR CODES. RETRIEVED HISTORY CODES P0300, P0015, P0014, P0302, P0304, AND P0306. SCAN TOOL DIAG. MONITORED TIMING AND VERIFIED OFF ON BANK 1 EXHAUST. CHECKED OIL LEVEL AND CONDITION. OK. PERFORMED W/HARNESS INSPECTION. OK. PERFORMED COMPONENT AND ACTUATION TESTS ON OCV VALVES. OK. GRAPHED AND MONITORED EXHAUST SIDE CVVT MOVEMENTS AND VERIFIED B1 EXHAUST SIDE WITH EXCESSIVE WAVEFORM NOISE. NEEDS CVVT REPLACED. WHEN OPENING, MAY NEED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR CVVTS AND CAMSHAFTS IF THEY ARE UPDATED PARTS, DUE TO THEM WORKING AS A UNIT.

yeah i found that and so did he. i haven't had a chance to go to him since all this. the hyundai dealership listed that they did this no? " performed component and actuation tests on icv valves. ok." ?

Oh, you got the dreaded oil control valve code. I have told Red Raspberry before, that this TSB is missing ALL code info for the same issues, this TSB needs to be updated by Hyundai engineering.

As this TSB and its DTC problems have come up at least 100 or more times here in the forums, its obvious that 'cam timing' is a Hyundai design issue in this engine that probably by now, should have been a major recall.

Sorry to have to tell you, "the fix" for this problem, at least in my case, was to replace the entire top half of the engine, you have a MPi first gen 3.8 engine like mine without oil pressure gauge. Under warranty, a long block replacement engine was authorized by Hyundai but they couldn't find one! They instead ordered new heads, camshafts, chains..etc, bored the heads a little larger to get more oil pressure and changed the oil from reg viscosity to thinner synth. I did have the opportunity to force Hyundai to buy back the car under CA strict lemon law, the engine issue was the last of too many warranty issues. I still really like the car but I kind of now regret not getting my money back when I had the chance

Hyundai has been fixing the car under warranty, and im ok with that as long as they fix the issues. The car is still considered a "hot find" by dealerships in the used car market due to the cult like following and demand especially the 2009-2012 first gen models. I think as long as you are getting "check engine light" issues, the 10 year, 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty should still apply

Try a different Hyundai dealership and demand warranty
