Has anyone found a way to pass emissions with headers? Bmr tuned my car but said they didn't have the software to change the rich or non rich codes.

Yeah, you have to move the O2 sensors downstream past the secondary cats. Normally they're after the first cats which are in the exhaust manifold, so simply moving the sensors past the 2nd cats does the trick.

I had O2 bungs welded in a few inches past each cat, then ran long wires to the original plugs.

i bought it with headers and exhaust system on it already, i added cats but the o2 sensors are in there. are you saying to have them moved just behind the cats?

i'm sorry, but i'm not very technical when it comes to stuff like this

Oh, gotcha...so my headers had O2 sensor ports (bungs) right at the collectors where they connect to the downpipes. Each side of the exhaust (Left / Right) has two O2 sensors. Total of 4 sensors.

The "upstream" sensor on mine gets screwed into the Header bung at the collector. My midpipes were stock with Cats, but had no O2 bungs...so I had them welded in after the cats. These are the downstream sensors that you need to extend the wires for.

I'm guessing, but it sounds like you have the upstream sensors installed, but the downstream sensors removed. This will definitely cause a CEL. The upstream measures the O2 level before the cat, and the downstream measures the O2 level after the cat...the exhaust should be "cleaner" after. Since you're likely not measuring anything after, you'll get the CEL.

Hope that makes sense.

Check with the local car group it's usually pretty easy to find a "friendly" inspection shop.

I just put mine about 4 inches past the 2nd cats. it was on the X-pipe BEFORE it crossed. You want to measure the correct side, so you gotta weld the bung before the X.
