Hankook Ventus are great budget tires with some actual grip - very popular around here.
Michelin Pilot Sport series for some long living grippy street tires, I just put a fresh set of Pilot Sport 4 on and they feel nice. For the extra bit you pay for them, they will pay back in tire wear.
I had Bridgestone RE71R's but if you're going to be in the wet, I would advise against them, they wear quickly and hydroplane easily.
