Coolant Bypass in Cold Climate?

Hi All; I did some digging and can't seem to find a logical answer. Can I still perform the coolant bypass on the throttle body if my winter gets down well below freezing? I will be parking her in the garage for the winter but would likely take her out every now and then to keep her happy! Live in Southern Ontario (reached -40 last winter). Any help is appreciated.

Yes, it will be just fine.
I had it done on my tiburon and never had issues with temps down to 10F

I had an issue, but my assumption that it was due to the bypass, is just speculation.

At a stop sign in winter, foot on the brake, engine starts revving to 4000 rpm out of nowhere.
foot still on the brakes, and there being snow on the ground, my rear wheel start to spin (automatic)

I threw it in neutral, and engine went back to idle.

This happened only once, maybe 8 years ago. Still had the bypass, until recently.
