Recommendation for tire pressures at track

Any recommendations for track tire pressures? Short. 2.25 mile track.
Air temps ~ 70 degrees. Stock Bridgestone Potenza tires. R Spec.
Not a competitive event, point by passing only.

Bring a pump and a pressure gauge. You will be altering your pressure throughout the day.

Start cold at 35psi
Run them until they're warm
Pit & check pressure while they're still hot.
Bleed hot pressure down to 36-37 psi range. More or less where I like to run.

End of the day, let them cool down, then re-fill back to whatever pressure you like before driving home.

Bring some chalk and mark the sidewall with it. Then you can see how much gets scrubbed off in the turns. If too much then add some air, if too little then bleed some air.

tire pressures

Had a great time at the track last night (Pacific Raceway), other than watching a Vette totaled into and over a Jersey barrier).

I started at 34 as the track was cool, had been some rain. Came in and the fronts had climbed to about 41, dropped all 4 done to 38, came back in, fronts were back up to 40, pretty warm to touch. Rears were still at 38, and barely warm. Chalk marks on fronts indicated either perfect or maybe just a tad too much roll, think I will target 39 for hot running temps on front next time.

thanks for the posts.

(shifter sucks. Hope there is an aftermarket that is much better!)

Yes a few short shifters out there . I personally have the ATQ SS , front and rear bushings . ATQ short shifter retains OEM pivot ball dimensions (the only one to do so ). Rifle bolt action , smooth and precise . : advise if you do decide to go with ATQ email them first from their web site to make sure that they have stock

thanks for the post. Not sure how big a deal that is to install. I have since read alot of good things about the Megan Racing Transmission Mount, so I ordered that. Hoping that is enough of an improvement that I can track the car without missing shifts.

Get a tire temp probe, do readings just after a session, inner, middle, and outer areas of the tire, trying for a pressure that gives consistent readings all the way across.
