I am pretty disappointed with the classing of the car in general. In FS, the car to have is either the new mustang V8 or Camaro V8 for sure, as evident by the top 15 spots or so at nationals.

Camaro V8 makes about 100+ more horsepower, fits a huge tire, and weighs nearly the same as a genesis V6. Maybe we win on wheel base, Im not sure. Sad thing is they even have the 2013+ 2.0t in FS.

The only place I could see the GC having a chance may be in STU but you would have to compete with the boost buggys and C5s. At least tires would be equal.

2013 2.0t Base

Mods: 30mm Whiteline Front sway bar.
Yup just one.

I ran against some very good drivers in my 13 2.0 R-Spec last year in FS. Toughest competition were 16 Camaro SSs and 15 1LEs. At least with the 2.0, I had very little chance on a power course but on balanced courses I didn't have an issue being in the hunt against some top tier drivers/cars. Definitely felt like an uphill battle though. I'm hopeful about the move to DS this year. I'm not quite sure if I agree with the v6 being screwed. I still think the 16 SS is the car to have but the v6 Genesis could potentially trophy if driven well. Has anyone had their v6 on scales? The google weight figures don't seem to be very accurate. For example, my 2.0 was 320x with half a tank of gas and a muffler delete pipe instead of a Ti exhaust. With less gas and a Ti exhaust I could be in the 3170-3180 range. If the v6 is around 3400 I could see it potentially being competitive. Should still be able to sweeper/brake better than the Camaros, slalom on par or slightly better. The Camaro will pull on it from a dig but power isn't super critical in autocross. An example is the mustang ecoboost who got 3rd at nats last year. Seems like the v6 could be on par with that car but with a far easier to drive NA engine instead of a turbo. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not sure it is completely hopeless.

Regarding other classes, I think you could make a 2.0t VERY competitive in STU with the open ECU rule. Weight would be comparable to an HR 350z, gearing is equally good, similar power, significantly more torque. Downsides seem to be tire/wheel size and NA vs Turbo power delivery. 350s are running 285s on 10.5" wheels whereas it seems like the genesis could be limited to 275s on 9.5s. Not sure how the v6 would stack up
