Splash Guards -Very Inexpensive-Look Good

No doubt that those of you looking for Splash Guards have come across the units made by Powerflow called Pro-Fit.

Most of the general reviews of this product are usually not good due to poor fit, although not always. In my case, I say, they are excellent, especially for the money.

I spent all of $30 plus shipping for both pair. As it turns out, Powerflow recommends the same model # for both front and back to fit the Genesis Coupe.

For the money, I figured, what the heck, it's not that much money to satisfy my curiosity and especially since there is nothing else out there anyway.

They are not an absolutely perfect fit, at first glance, but after working with them for a while, I got them to fit very tight against the sides of the fenders and are perfectly straight with the sides of the car.

They are not as thick as OEM that are made for other cars, including my current 13 VW CC but again, for the money, they will do quite well.

If something comes along at a later date that is better, I may or may not replace them.

In the meantime, I am perfectly satisfied that these guards will protect the sides of my Coupe for many years to come and even if they get scraped once in a while from a speed bump, should sustain no damage due to the fact that they are flexible enough to handle it.

Ground clearance is 2 7/8" in front and 4 1/4" in rear.

For installation, be prepared to remove the rear wheels. That is a must. As far as the front wheels are concerned, no problem. Just turn the wheel as far right as possible to work on the right side and vice versa for the left side.

You will notice that on the rear, I used one OEM screw location. The bolts with the washers are easy. Reach up between the bumper and fender well. You can put bolts through there because it is open. I used large fender washers on each end.

In the front, the top screw is the OEM location and the rest are additional.

If you exercise patience and common sense, it will turn out well. Otherwise, maybe not so much.

By the way, here is the site where I got these. If this interests anyone, be sure to order 2 pair of the units listed.

Yes, they will fit. There are no sheet metal differences.

It has been very hot and dry in here Arizona this year. The Monsoon is late in arriving, therefore, no rain so far.

I had a chance to try out my new guards today. Usually after about 40 miles of driving, I have a tremendous amount of dust stuck to the lower body panels. In fact, enough to partially hide the Red paint. Not so today.

Of course there is still dust, but at least half as much as usual.

These guards are going to allow my California Duster to last a lot longer.

If fact, the is so little dust, I don't even feel compelled to use the duster today.

I knew the guards would work but didn't know just how effective they would actually be. This is better than expected.

When you get yours, feel free to post here if you need some suggestions. My first ones on the front and back took quite a while. The opposite sides went on in half the time.

That is quite an extensive move you will be making! Enjoy the adventure.

I have also had many of those kinds of adventures during my 72 years of life and am looking forward to many more also.

Will be watching for your future posts when you are ready to work on your Coupe.

Funny. First thing I did on my '99 Accord was junk the splash guards the previous owner installed. Made the car look 10x cleaner. But to each his own!

Thanks for your positive input to this forum. It was extremely informative and beneficial.

However, unlike "Facebook", it isn't always necessary or advisable to write down your every thought in forums of this nature.

"Constraint" is a great word.

Actually, the Uncle is trying to keep the rest of the world from killing itself, I hope.

I spent a great deal of my life living by his rules and no doubt things are much different today.

Our current "Uncle" isn't nearly as interested in our country as was the previous Uncles I worked under.

I won't say anymore.

Looking forward to hearing from you when you get settled in. I suspect you are in the Air Force, correct?

I have had a few compliments from people who have seen them in person.

And....even in dry conditions, they keep the body relatively dust free. Before I installed them, the dust used to collect very heavily on the body directly behind the wheels.

Red is a difficult color to keep looking clean but the splash guards are really helping.

Thanks.

BTW,

Would love to see a pic of your 04 Goat.

Not to give my age away, but years ago, I had a brand new 68 Goat, Dark Blue.

That was the first year of a completely new body style for GM. It drew a lot of attention.

There was no such thing as a digital camera in those days and expensive to take pictures and have the film developed. So, no pics. I didn't start taking pictures of my vehicles until sometime in the mid 70s. I have had a lot of cars. That's why I am poor now.

My last count was somewhere around 40.

there is like only 30 things registered to fit the 14 on amazon. add a 13 as well since they are essentially the same.

There is absolutely no difference between the body panels of the 13 and 14 Coupes.

Keep in mind that the mud guards are not a perfect fit on my 13. I had to make them fit by pushing them very tightly against the wheel openings before fastening.

Purchase them for your 14 and you will have the same success I did on my 13 as long as you are very patient and take your time with the install.

And..........you must remove the rear wheels.
