IE Script Problem

I keep getting a script error on this site using Internet Explorer. It's causing the site to run really really slow and eventually it will give me the option to stop running the script but everytime I navigate among threads, it comes back.

Any suggestions besides using another browser (work computer)?

Thanks

I get that on my Win 8 tablet from time to time but figured it was just because it's a slow Atom processor. Never get it on my home or work computer.

If it is a site issue I'd imagine it's from the tons and tons of ads the damn site shows. We'll see if many more people chime in. If they do we can direct Admin to the thread for his input.

^^ Ha! Exactly! My IT would freak out if they caught me trying to download another browser to use. Especially surfing this site on company time.

Dear Admin,

A fix for this long running script is really needed.

Sincerely,

Everyone forced to use Internet Explorer

I only get it with my IE10 computers. My IE9 computer has no issues.

I used to use chrome, half my sites don't work with it so back to IE for me.

This issue seems to only occur for IE 7-9 users. We have escalated this matter with Internet Explorer to correct the script error. Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA for the fix so in the meantime try accessing the site wit Chrome or FireFox. IE10 doesn't seem to be affected by this script error so try that as well.

They just said right above your post they have no ETA on a fix. Not sure what word you're waiting for. No ETA means no ETA. But they'll let everyone know once it's fixed.

Why any IT department would not allow other browsers is beyond me. We couldn't even operate our business with only allowing IE. With all the SaaS and web based apps out there now only allowing IE on a network is backwards thinking.

But as a work around you could try loading LogMeIn on your home PC and accessing that from work.

Edit: On another note IE 10 is definitely effected by the long running script. I get it on my Win 8 tablet with IE10 and that's the only computer I get it on. It's also the only Atom based PC I use. IE 10 on my home PC is fine and IE 9 on my work PC is fine.

Hey CrookedH!

No seriously, I see the post directly above mine & it reads explicitly "No ETA". My post is aimed directly at that statement, more specifically do you have an ETA, yet?

I'm sure most employees of AutoGuide would need access to all the browser's currently available. After all, they might wanna do some testing on any changes they make before going live with them. Just a thought...

We have no use for extra browsers, if we allowed just one more browser it would have to be integrated in our client loads, we'd have to figure out how to push out any updates & worst of all we'd have to support it. IE does just fine for us. It's comes with the OS licensing, it's not a separate CAL & for once, in a great long while, it's a bit of software that doesn't cost our company 10's of thousands of $$$...

Saas, web-based anything is a complicated & expensive way to remove piracy but at the cost of the paying customer. I'll suggest going back to green sheets & pencils before paying some retarded price for a web-based business software. Why pay for more data trunks, so we'll have the bandwidth for our employees to enter data over the web to be processed by someone elses servers when we already have a room full of servers? Yep it's backwards thinking, but it's not nearsighted either.

So, do you think you could check on that ETA?

I don't work for Autoguide, just a moderator, so I won't know anything much if any before anyone else does.

Chrome and Firefox have no licensing requirements, they're totally free for business or personal use. SaaS isn't just a way of preventing piracy. For SMB it's a viable solution to reduce overhead and service costs. Without using any SaaS solutions I'd have to hire a help desk tech cutting into my budget and in the long run my own income. Aside from those factors I'd have to spin up more servers increasing licensing and hardware costs even more. It costs us much less to keep an internet connection running compared to adding more virtual servers when you consider licensing, maintenance, etc. We still keep Exchange, GP, file server, and our VMS in house but I'm pushing to move some of those to the cloud over the next couple of years as well. Bandwidth is only getting cheaper.

I manage over 700 devices between 8 branch offices on my own while supporting 3 of the major browsers without issue. I actually get less support requests for Chrome than I do for either IE or FF.

On a sarcastic note... You don't have the bandwidth for SaaS and web apps but you have the bandwidth to allow forum use?

We are working on resolving the IE issue. Unfortunately we are encountering this issue on a few of our forums. They are being worked all day by a member of our team. I'm sorry that your unable to browse the forum while you are at work but please be patient while we resolve this issue.

As mentioned earlier since this affecting a few forum we do not have a ETA on when this will be resolved. If possible try using Chrome, FireFox, Opera, or the mobile app in the meantime.

thank you
