New Vendor Feedback rule/process

Due to the overwhelming issues in the past in the vendor feedback section resulting in mods having to clean up/delete/lock threads from senseless posting and personal attacks, the vendor feedback section has been edited so that only mods, vendors and the OP can post in a thread. That way people can get their issues out and hopefully get resolution with the vendor. This will also help those that incorrectly believe that the Gencoupe staff somehow is trying to protect the vendors see that without the unneeded posts threads stay where they belong.

Taking out the flaming/name calling but don't restrict it to vendors/OP posts only. That would destroy the feedback forum as the vendors will likely not bother posting as much since its *just one guy*

edit: I also like reading what other people think of how vendors handled the feedback. Why are the opinions of a situation only applicable to 2 people?

Because the situation is between the two people, if others have a feedback they can start their own thread. Vendors will pay attention to it because they know thats where potential customers will go to look for feedback if they should buy or not. I might add that this format is used on other forums with a lot of success as it keeps the threads on topic and allows people to make issues public or provide good reviews of vendors, which in the end is the reason for the section.

Its no longer a feedback thread Per/se Its now a Vendor Problem Resolution thread.

Kamkaze, Perhaps Each vendor should get their own subforum?

Edit: with a section for Private ones as well. Just a suggestion to help clean it up, for both vendors and users sake.

No it's feedback, they give their feedback of a transaction. If its an issue it can secondarily allow people to work towards a resolution with the public watching to keep both sides honest and accountable. Feedback isn't meant for everyone to put their two cents in, it's about feedback of a specific transaction good or bad. So yes good feedback is very welcomed and encouraged too. Just because people can't jump in with their opinions doesn't mean it isn't feedback it just means the feedback will be of the person who had the transaction with the vendor as it should be.

No disrespect to the Admins here, but I think when you restrict the feedback forum to only the OP and the vendor, it's just as easy to eliminate the feedback section altogether and allow them to handle the conflict resolution in PM.

I agree, feedback does not mean bash the vendor, nor does it mean use it as a conflict resolution tool. That should be handled directly with the vendor. But the primary purpose of the feedback section is not communication between the customer and the vendor, it's communication between former customers and potential customers.

If the vendor chooses to chime in on a thread to defend themselves, that's their prerogative, but unless a thread involves blatant name calling and falsities, the Admins should let it resolve itself. If the vendor truly handled the situation properly, it will be evident to those reading.

As for having to "clean up" threads that do abuse the forum, isn't that kinda your job as an Admin? Isn't that a responsibility you agree to when you take that role? Simply banning the free discussion seems a very lazy solution.

Again, I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I simply want this community to grow and prosper and become stronger. Perhaps if it's too much work for the current Admins to perform this function, you should consider increasing your ranks until you can sufficiently perform the duties? There are those of us with the willingness to dedicate some of our time and energy to helping that have a level head and would be glad to take some of the load off. Just a suggestion.

Couldn't disagree with you more on this as pm's aren't available for the rest of the forum to review.

No the primary reason for the feedback section is for people to leave feedback for a vendor, not discuss it with other members. If you want to discuss it with other members there are other places where that is appropriate outside of the feedback.

If the vendor chooses to chime in on a thread to defend themselves, that's their prerogative, but unless a thread involves blatant name calling and falsities, the Admins should let it resolve itself. If the vendor truly handled the situation properly, it will be evident to those reading.

Not sure what to say other than I disagree and don't see a need for others to comment on something they are not involved in.

It is our job to clean up some threads and posts, but when that is what causes the most problems, other solutions needed to be looked at. As I said it is used on other forums with great success. We are not banning free discussion, it is just no longer allowed in the feedback section.

Again, I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I simply want this community to grow and prosper and become stronger. Perhaps if it's too much work for the current Admins to perform this function, you should consider increasing your ranks until you can sufficiently perform the duties? Thanks for your opinion, this community is growing and this step will allow it to do so with much less drama while still allowing members to leave feedback about vendors. It has nothing to do with not having enough man power, it's simply a step to get rid of unneeded drama. If you are interested in being a mod feel free to PM admin about it.

This is a great idea for vendor feedback.

If you have an issue with a product, post it in the "product review" it is open to the public and everyone and post as they wish.

I think it's a good idea. Potential customers can see the issues and how they are dealt with without the drama. These kind of threads will always escalate into the gutter if left to go on their own.

This is what sparked a lot of this. Every single thread left unattended was turned into a cluster eventually and fast.

It doesn't silence feedback at all. If YOU have a problem with a vendor that can't be addressed, make a thread. Bandwagoning onto others posts only causes chaos and never helps anything especially with how people have been commenting in the past months.

This isn't silencing feedback, this is allowing feedback from the person who had the transaction. And keeping the unneeded two cents of people not involved in the transaction out if the way.

It by no means silences feedback. The OP can post whatever they like. And the vendor can reply.

Threads are public for everyone to read.

If the OP wants other opinions, he can post in the product review section if appropriate to a product.

I think this is a good idea. Too many threads have went missing and hidden due too escalating drama in the threads. It's better to at least have some feedback on a vendor then non at all. Maybe some older threads can be brought back but with just the OP's initial post.

FWIW, I also think this is a good idea. People get to see exactly how a vendor treats the customer and keeping it out of PM holds the vendor accountable.

I personally like to read the feedback, get someone who's recently made a transaction, get their view and move on. I'm really sick of people throwing their 2 cents in about their experience in someone else's thread just to stir the pot. Each transaction gets its own thread, people start seeing "so and so ripped me off" as titles all the time of specific vendors, they'll know right away that there are issues without having to sort through all the BS.
