You forgot to mention the part where all 3 of us thought the guys was "on something" as he was staggering and stumbling a little. Personally, to me, looked like the guy was rollin' on E or something. Some of his speech was slurred and staggered. I'm actually surprised the cops didn't check him out further. BTW, let the rest of us know if it was merely a cosmetic issue or if there is other damage. At those speeds I still say you 2 were damn lucky he didn't go sideways since it was his left rear wheel that hit ya. <scary thought>

I hate this thread. It feel like I'm in a Final Destination movie every time I get in my car and I keep looking at things that might cause freak accidents.

Should we put a warning in the New Members section to not view this thread?

Wouldn't that just cause more people to look at it? Kinda like putting a "DO NOT PUSH" label on a giant red button.

Are you F^cking kidding me??? Judgment day surely is coming. All these GenCoupes getting damaged, makes me mad, and sad.

One standardized US gallon of displacement compressed using 6 pistons housed in a 60 degree all aluminum V shaped block to 10.4 atmospheres injected and ejected via 24 valves and 4 camshafts. Mix part 100% organically produced air w/ part refined 91 octane liquid hydrocarbons. Expose to electricity and pressure within the energy extrapolater to produce forward thrust via a fully synchronized helical gear set coupled to a minimal slippage differentiator and rubberized traction disks.

I know I said the snow tires look like offroad tires but JEEZ!!!

Ok, a few days later... oh well here are the pics.

While on a 2 lane, divided road - an RTD bus pulled right out in front of me. I had almost no time to react, so I hit the brakes and dodged to the right (she was making a left hand turn). Unfortunately, the driver decided to make an illegal left had turn into the outside lane. We bumped - only my mirror was removed and a little scuffing at the back left quarter panel. I thus got bumped into a field at 50 mph. Brakes were useless on the very soft and muddy embankment - so i bumped and bounced for 300+ yards (I think the officer said) AFTER I went airborne on an 8 foot drop off of the embankment you can see.

THE GOOD news -
  • This could have been a LOT worse - had i not twiched to the right - it would have been a rear end impact at 50 and my vehicle would have "dove under" the bumper of hers.. possibly killing me - for sure sending me to the hospital. I thank my track training for those reflexes.
  • my car was not totaled.
  • The unibody didn't get bent.
  • The Snow tires double as off road tires!!!!!! (check out those Blizzak LM60 TREAD!!! my car REALLY looks like it has off road tires lol)
  • My Java drink was well mixed after this, still hot and I drank it waiting for the police and med equipment to show up.

The Bad news -
  • Now my car is devalued more for resale
  • Damage to - Suspension, Front Bumper (misaligned), Side Skirts (Misaligned) Both Left and Right front quarter panels (misaligned), Right rear quarter panel (Misaligned, and scraped from bus), Driver Door (Mirror and dent where mirror hit door on metal part just below the window), Driver side Window scratched and needs replaced, Roof (miror flew up and dented roof right by the sunroof)
  • I can now say I've been run off the road by a Short Buss
  • The driver of the bus was only charged with "unsafe lane change" which I'm contesting - should be "leaving seen of accident" or "hit and run"
  • I'll probably have to hire a lawyer for the ^

Edit - Got the repair quote back - so far up to 5k and climbing!

Edit - A week later, saw my car in the shop today. More damage totals coming in. If fixed, straightened rear cradle and new front cradle, struts and springs. Rotors are in question and so is other brake stuff. Will find out on Weds if the extra stuff will end up totaling the car. i r sad, and very mad at RTD.

Edit - 2/19/11 - Got the car back today so I went from:

to this:

Here are several reasons WHY you don't want to go in a field at 50 mph in this car: Click the links below to view - I don't feel like taking up a ton of screen restate for them...

Overview pic:

The Links to all of it...
Work 1
Work 2
Work 3
Work 4
Rotors
Alignment 1
Alignment 2

Still have a few things to fix from the repair that need... adjusted such as the right door's closing point, the left mirror's optics are "warped" and needs replaced/fixed and they missed a small spot of clear bra.

I also have to go back and fight to get my rotors/pads replaced for the front and rear as they turned them but I'm getting pulsing and grinding on them - the "turn" didn't do enough as you can clearly see HUGE hot spots on the front rotors and after only 8 miles the rear rotors are waring unevenly with groves in the rotors...

what a pain in the... !#$%#^(&*

Hey Russ, that sucks so much. So did the bus never stop? I know exactly where that is. That bus must have turned left out of that road that skirts the airport, that intersection leads to american furniture wharehouse. It can be tricky turning left, but that doesn't mean the guy should've pulled out to the right lane.

Are you ok? I'd grab a lawyer for sure, I can only imagine what you might've done to your back getting airborne like that. Also, I would fight for a post accident vehicle depreciation payment, if the car is going to be worth less, atleast you can pay down your principal so you're not upside down from interest.

Good thing you avoided the sign! At 50 mph, it would've given way, but not before ripping your radiator or left headlamp to shreds.

Thats a good idea, I'm defiantly going to take up the idea of contacting RTD for an adjustment on depreciation.

Im pulling up to a red light, and someone threw something at my car (made a loud noise), so naturally im like WHO DID IT. So I forget im driving for about 2 seconds and look out my window. Hit someone in front of me at about 4 mph. Double whammy. No noticable damage to be honest, IDK how.

No suspension damage. But I'm unsubscribing. This thread is bad luck, and I don't want to visit it again. Cheer's all!

Minor compared to most in here but bought my car on 1/14/11 and rock cracked the windshield all the way across on 1/25/11.

Drove same road for 2 years in my BMW without a single incident.

The curse has hit me... apparently some asshole didn't know how to back out of their parking spot and lightly hit my car... I am having PDR look at on Monday... the dent will more than likely come out fine but the paint will need to be addressed by a shop or someone who can really wet sand and polish well. Here is a crappy cell pic:
