So I agree with the accessories bit. But, I'm not saying they do it to sell accessories. No manufacturer sells accessories. I was there when Honda was pushing body kids and underglow lights lol. I was able to sell them both only once. To the same guy. Middle aged recently divorced hispanic guy. Anyways, what I'm saying it should be engineered in a way that says "hey we know you're gonna do whatever with it. We're cool with that, this should make it easier" It's about the message. And don't advertise it as then it becomes a feature and is subject to regulation. I say hide these features in plain view. For the people who look for them to notice.

Also What?! Honda with a RWD EV?? Like an electric S660?? I doubt I'd be able to fit in that, and its kinda small. But I would definitely welcome it. And if it's affordable I would consider it. If it does come out though I would bet anything they are going to keep it in Japan.

And yes I agree, Kia in particular. But like I mentioned its just the brand is not where it needs to be to attract the type of people looking to buy an EV. They would really have to pull some sort of hat trick to get attention. Make it incredibly affordable and a great value for starters.

No manufacturer is going to do that for the sake of it. They would do it, only if it would cost them less, whether it's cost in manufacturing or cost in time to produce.

honda e-prototype, range is lacking though

The e-niro already has some awards, and kia/hyundai already have EVs with almost 300 mile ranges for around $35k~, which you can't get a tesla for that $30k anymore.
MY friend's family has 5 tesla's S, X, and 3 model 3s. They're waiting for delivery of a 6th.
For pre-orders for model 3s only the $50k version was available, and considering that they are still fulfilling pre-orders....

GM had something with the volt, with it's mainly generator mode operation, but they let the model fizzle out and die.

Pushing 117k miles on my cheap little Genny. There is simply no way that I will get rid of her. I hydrolocked the engine last August and it is still running strong. People STILL tell me what a good looking car it is. Either the wheels fall-off or I get t-boned. As stated before what would I replace her with? The PA roads are terrible so I will not spend a lot of money on a car. That seems dumb. I guess a Miata or FR-S but I cannot see those cars being sold soon due to the SUV appetite in the USA. Camaro, NOPE. A Mustang might be a last resort. I am at my peak earning years, my daughter gets married this year and I have no interest in a final sporty car before I retire. Sad...

I think you could move on to a luxury sports car if you wanted. A nice Mustang isn't too bad but I'd recommend a European AWD car to traverse these Pennsylvania roads.

As for electric sports cars, Volvo and Porsche will have theirs next year. Tesla is way ahead because they keep the batteries relatively safe and cool. Nissan is almost a joke now. They are just making money by slowly changing exteriors but offering the same V6 engines for 15 years straight. SUVs can be fun but they are too expensive until they are out of warranty. I'd have to have a family first before I replace my car with one. And I love a 6 speed but even Subaru and Mazda are phasing theirs out. Only the base engines and trims get them.

Thats also a big reason i went with a new 2014 3.8 ultimate,$32K, instead of a slightly used 2014 Lotus evora,$50K, but i still worry about my Genesis in a parking lot.😁

Electric has all the torque etc, no argument there. But electric will never be as cool or satisfying as internal combustion.

I'm with you! My 2012 Track is about ready to turn over 100,000 miles next week. I bought it new in late 2011 and have had a few problems, but don't plan on replacing it. I bought it as a "retirement toy", but found it a good daily driver. I'm 73 now and simply cannot get sports cars out of my blood! Also electric may be the new wave of the future, but there's nothing better than the roar of internal combustion!!!

No German cars for me ever. My view is you don't maintain them, but you support them. Yes they handle well. Also, in Pennsylvania it is German cars that split wheels from our wonderful roads. The Japanese and American rims are heavier, but stronger. I am not looking to spend much money on a new car should mine get hit, for example. No matter, I like my Genny. This morning I swapped-out my winter tires for my summer ones. Next, I need to work on my 120k maintenance. I have some wobble when I brake so new rotors when I replace my pads.

Been considering GT-R, but desided to stay with Gen. Car looks good and turns heads more do than any car below 50k, and its cheaper to build ot and make it fast as opposed to switch to different platform.

Lol, I don't know about "cheaper to make fast", but with the much lower purchase price the overall investment is lower. I'm finding quality, overbuilt parts are slightly more expensive compared to other platforms because of the custom factor or because of the lower volume. Plenty of shops sell a DSS carbon shaft for a Mustang for $1200. Same parts are used in our version. Try finding it for less than $1500ish. Same story with clutches and brakes. Maybe we'll luck out in a couple years and whippersnappers will buy these and drive down the tuning costs. Who knows?

Honestly, I am probably going to hold onto mine as well for the "forseeable" future. I agree, with PA roads being as terrible as they are it can be hard to put something upwards of 50k+ through the roads central pa has to offer, unless you get really specific on where you want to go or it isn't your daily driver. I recently picked up a much older 06 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited for the winters and daily driving here for that very reason, good luck on avoiding flying debris, tires, and rocks on i83 by the way.

I love the Lotus Evora, though I have yet to drive one. If I am ever able to afford one even used, i'd gladly entertain that idea (bright red of course).

I agree with sticking with the Gen for awhile and modding it to my desire. As my payments came to a close, I was actually looking into other sports cars but just couldn't justify paying the high prices for what's in the market. The Q60, RC-F, M3/M4, S5/RS5, Type R.. all over 30-40k used. Came real close to jumping on the RC-F but the cons outweighed the pros. Think I'd be more happy slapping on a widebody and some new 3p wheels on the Gen than making more payments and starting from scratch again lol

Sí, verdad... Not to mention if you don't yet own a Gen, even with the inflated price of performance clutches and oil coolers, it's a hell of a bargain! Much rather have a 2010-2012 3.8M than a much older 350Z at the same price. Still, I wish I'd bought mine used

Sports cars always loose value quickly.
I buy all of my cars 0.5 - 2 year old crashed to save money. Back in 2013 prices on bk2 v6 track were pretty high even crashed (but I could not wait), now you can pick one up (2015) for 4 k with light damadge.

AKGC, I don't know what planet you're living on, or what you're smoking, but here on Earth aluminum is the 3rd most abundant element in the crust and sells for about $.80 / lb. or about 5 cents per ounce.

Gold, on the other hand, is about $1300 per ounce, or $ 20,000/lb.

Did you take into account refining?

"Aluminum" doesn't occur in nature. What is mined is bauxite ore, which takes as much as 48 mega joules per hour to extract just a kilo of aluminum.
titanium and iron extraction makes up "some" of the cost of extraction, and how long a refinery has been operational (initial cost of equipment/used over time).

Gold is takes very little to extract in relation, and very little in energy. A majority of refinement is done chemically and a byproduct extraction is silver.
The value of gold has been kept recently due demands of it in electronics (gold plating) due to it having no reaction to oxygen (oxidation). During the whole process of refinement very little is lost, maybe less than 1%, depending on what process is used.
