How long for warranty work?

I have a 2015 3.8 Genesis Coupe. It has about 48k miles on it and developed a tapping noise that was rpm dependant. I brought it to the dealer and they found metal in the oil and said it needed a new engine. A week later they said the warranty claim was approved and they ordered a new engine. Fast forward a month and they say they don't even have the parts yet.

Is this normal? I would think Hyundai would want my car out of there as fast as possible.

They want your car done as quickly as possible if theyíre PAYING for the rental. If not, they donít give a ****.

I don’t know timelines but I’d assume it’d be a while since the coupes were built in Korea. If it were an Elantra, Sonata, or Santa Fe, it’d probs be quicker since they’re built in The U.S.

Given the weight of parts, I would guess it’s being shipped by sea accounting for the long ship time. I just had a clutch, flywheel, and few other parts ordered Saturday and they should be here on Wednesday. Much lighter shipment though.

Incorrect. The reason why it takes so long is parts availability.

It's not as if they are building a whole car.

Twigg, you're lucky since the 3.8 is still in production in other models. The rwd 2.0 engine has been discontinued for the last, what 3 or 4 years.

For what ever reason, hyundai doesn't have complete engines for warranty, they issues the short block and the heads separately. If they did issue complete engines, it would make it easier on everybody.
So I would guess that they are waiting on the heads or the short block.

When my engine was replaced under warranty about a year and a half ago, it was 23 days from start to finish.
