Wind Noise from Driver's Window

I can hear wind noise coming from the driver's side window at 45-80 mph.

I took my car to the dealership twice. The first time they adjusted and lubricated the window. However, there was no changes. The second time they replaced the rubber seal, but it did not help either.

They stated they would replace the entire driver's door (including window), but I have to pay for the tint on my window. Which isn't a big deal, but it is a hassle because they have to special order the door and window.

Also, they suggested taking my car to another Hyundai dealership. The closest dealership is 45 miles away. I called and they wanted me to bring the car in on a week day for a quick inspection because no one has this problem yet with the 2013 2.0t premium.

It is annoying to pay for a brand new car and having to turn my stereo up to drown the wind noise out. Other than that I love this car.

What should I do? If this does not work would this be cover under the Lemon Law?

Typically I would associate that with the window not being adjusted properly. When the door is shut does it sit really firmly up against the seal? If you go thru an auto car wash do you get water inside the car?

I'm surprised that adjustment wasn't their first option... I don't see how replacing the drivers door would help

If it looks like it could seal better, pop your door panel off (just the interior trim, very easy..) and there are two access holes covered by rubber... Pop those and loosen the bolts there (don't take them out) and you can adjust. I'd recommend sticking mostly to adjusting whatever side (front or back) appears not to be sealing well.

The dealership already adjusted the window muliple times without success . It was the first thing they did, and they did perform a leak test that passed.

Their technicians and the manager stated they could hear the wind noises when they drove my car on the interstate. Then they drove another 2013 genesis coupe 2.0t that did not produce the same wind noise.

Also, they replaced the rubber seal around the door frame the second time because adjusting the window did not work.

Replacing the door was the last resort if the other dealership could not fix it.

Mine has had the same wind noise since day one. I took it to the dealer and they said I would have to leave it with a full tank of gas so they can adjust, drive, adjust, drive and so on. Wasn't worth the $50 in gas and to have some random kid drive the piss out of my car for them to 'Test' it.

Just go with it.

Had the same issue, it was the mirror on mine. It wasn't sitting properly, the seal was a bit off, but I was only able to minimize the sound somewhat, by adjusting the mirror, loosening the nuts and moving it. The mirror plate I call it (part that sits on the door), is warped a bit, so the top and bottom points don't sit completely flush. I'm going to try to fix it in the spring by heating the plastic and flatten it out better. Definitely a manufacturing error on the mirror. The passenger side sits perfect, it isn't warped.

Mine has done the same thing too. No leaks from window or mirror seals, I just deal with it. Maybe eventually I'll take it in, but as someone else said, is it worth them prying something apart (likely breaking something else)? Not to me, but I'm a little strange like that I guess.

I'm sorry I completely missed that part of your post. I skipped the word adjusted and just saw lubricated

Dealing with it is a pretty crappy thing to do though with your brand new mid-$20's car, don't you think?

I am having the same problem. I also dont want the dealership taking my car apart for this issue. I did notice my driver side mirror was not sitting right just the other day. I will take a better look in the morning. This is not a big deal but would love to have a prefect car.

Mid 20's? Where did you buy yours from? Try mid 30's.

As I explained in my previous post it's not worth it at the moment because the tech will likely break something else. Maybe down the road when they've had more experience working on the Gen Coupes.

I dunno, Illinois... My Rspec (granted 2011, prior to price increase) netted out to about 26500ish after tax title licence

I have a slight leaking noise coming from my driver's side window at highway speeds as well, so I took it to the dealership (while getting my first oil change) and they blamed it on my "aftermarket intake". Haven't gone back since lol.

Issue I have is the window seals vibrate very loudly with the music up with factory system no sub. At least your dealership attempted to fix it, mine just said "yeah it will do that cuz your music is up just turn it down"

No because then it'd have water coming in through the sun roof and a-pillar and it'd need new engine seals every 40,000km's. Na thanks, I'll stick to my $20-sumthin-k car.
High end cars usually just mean they've got the best new tech, doesn't mean f*ck all about build quality. Just ask JC any time you feel like it about Mercs, he'll tell you that when they're not in the shop they're on their way to the shop.

Mine had awful wind noise issues too, had the window adjusted, didn't fix it, had the mirror adjusted, didn't fix it. Swapped to KDM mirrors and did the work myself, no more wind noise.

I think wind noise is inherent on these cars since they have frameless windows seems noiser. If you want a quiet car you might have to choose a different car.

OP you have Silverstar zxe's what do you think of them? I have used ultras in the past and they were pretty good, how do these compare?
