stock nav replacement

So I was wondering if any one with the stock navigation/premium audio system has done a replacement with something actually useful?

I tried searching but only found adding a tablet to cars without the stock nav system.

Thanks for looking.......

Ok since that question didn't seem to go any where I'll ask this...... Has anyone done a comparison of the 2013 to the 2014 Nav systems?

Apparently, there is absolutely no difference between the two. Sorry.

Personally, I was hoping for a Back Up Camera option.

I guess Hyundai Genesis Coupe drivers don't need "real" technology.

They are just "Red Neck, Dirt Track Drivers", only interested in "Drifting".

To be clear, are you talking just the nav portion of the system or the whole thing? I doubt the nav feature is changed since they buy that from a third party but there are differences between the 2013 and 2014 software, some 2014 owners comments on it here: https://www.gencoupe.com/general-disc...ack-owner.html

I read through the entire thread and the general consensus is, there are no differences between the 13s and 14s to be of any consequence. Especially with the automatics.

But wait, they have raised the prices a few hundred dollars. That's gotta be worth, at the very least, honorable mention.

Of course, the back up radar system was mentioned, which in my estimation is useless. I had it in my 09 VW, Eos. I finally installed a back up camera in it, which the OEM radio was already set up for. Too bad Hyundai couldn't have done that for us.

The last brand new Hyundai that I owned was an 07 Santa Fe. I can see how they have cheapened since those days.

Depends on what your priorities are, improved interface and better media streaming was mentioned, both would be nice to have, but to say there is no difference is incorrect.

I did not say, "There was no difference".

Read my post more slowly.

What few and relatively insignificant differences that there are, is hardly worth the price increase. At least, IMHO.

And, isn't that what many of these board posts are, "Opinions"?

It is also my opinion that the quality of my 13 Genesis Coupe is not of the same quality that my brand new 2007 Azera and brand new 2009 Santa Fe were.

One blaring example is that my previous two Hyundais had much superior and more supple leather seating as compared to the Coupe. But I digress.

We were originally talking Electronic Media, weren't we?

On that note, I would much rather have had a back up camera built in to the Nav unit as opposed to Blue Link which I will not keep after the freebie runs out in 3 years.

As a matter of fact, as soon as I can afford it, I will be getting a Gentex mirror with the Back Up camera and Home Link. It is extremely expensive so it may be a while.

Seemed pretty cut and dry.

I'm not telling you your opinion on whether they are significant or not is wrong, just that there are differences. And the price increase has nothing to do with the nav improvements, it's material costs to physically build the car, the software improvements come from development across all of their models that have nav systems and should have no impact on price unless they put brand new tech into a car.

Exactly, there absolutely are changes between the 13 and 14 Nav/Tech package (Canadian GC's come with a Back up Camera). Usefulness is purely subjective and will change on what your agenda is.

It is easy to take a sentence or two out of context if you eliminate part of it.
Politicians do it all the time.

I will make it easy for you so that you don't even have to go back to my original post.

"there are no differences between the 13s and 14s to be of any consequence. Especially with the automatics".

That statement was my opinion which is correct for me but perhaps not correct for some others.

Again, this is a forum where both opinions and facts are posted. Sometimes facts and opinions are actually one in the same.

I am not going to get into a pissing contest with you guys because it is obvious you are very young and think you know it all. Someday, you will find out differently.

In the mean time, let's just agree to disagree.

C,mon Moreno.

The part you are eliminating is the part that I underlined.

I have already stated that the post reflects my opinion.

For me, any additional bennies found on the 14 Coupe are insignificant. Particularly with the MT, since I prefer the 8 speed auto.

I don't care if the MT shifts like snot on ice.

^^^ DavidPaul I have to say...some people who come here looking for threads about back up cameras might wonder what's wrong with you after seeing your amazingly friendly (sarcasm) comments on EVERY thread that has to do with back up cameras. I digress, it's not really every thread. More like, 2 of the 3 that I actually took time to read before I found all the information I needed. It's literally almost word for word calling the person a child if they either disagree with you or downplay what you say.

I have to say that calling people "young" pretty consistently whenever they disagree with you, albeit somewhat humorous for obvious reasons, is mostly disparaging. I don't think age should be a blanket authorization for "being a dick".

I try to respect my elders and have always agreed with the "age before wisdom" mentality; however I think it's good to not just preach humility, but also live by it. We might feel a sense of entitlement to things as we progress further in life. Maybe it's the right to retirement, or the right to health benefits from our Country. Maybe it's the right to respect, without needing to show any in return. Despite the reason, this sense of entitlement will never work in an environment where each individual has an opinion, but is not allowed to express said opinion without feeling disrespected and treated like a child. When that happens, defense modes will trigger, and you can expect naught but the same disrespect in return. That is my very miniscule $0.02, and I'll leave it at that.
