how much more hp do you want? Do you have a AT or MT? Are you willing to rebuild your motor?

Im a 3.8 auto guy but from what ive read theres much you can do with the turbo to increase H.P. without breaking the bank. Check out some past threads in the engine section that might give you a better idea of where to start and whats involved.

You'll need air intake, 3inch turbo back exhaust, BOV, and NGK spark plugs. Not necessary but you'll probably want an upgraded intercooler with piping. Once you got these things, go get a custom tune. I'm sure the tuner will be able to squeeze out 400hp. I will be honest with you, this will put you in the mid-risk range of throwing a rod through the block.

You are going to need more than what Sergio posted to hit 400whp. Bigger turbo and upgraded intake manifold, as you posted, plus upgraded injectors and recommend an uograded fuel pump.

I think what Sergio us referring to is you are reaching the max hp to where you will need to build the engine with forged internals or you risk toasting your motor.

Exactly, I was also thinking he just wanted 400hp and not 400whp lol. Yea if you want to get 400whp you need everything bsbullie said.

From what i've been reading here for months and other forums (mostly here at gencoupe) a stock block, assuming maintenance is never neglected and you happen to get a "Monday car" is good up until 400hp. I'm unclear it it's crank or WHP but I have to agree with these guys on mods. You are reaching the limit and are gonna jump into risky territory. It also depends a lot on how you will drive the car. Be very mindful of that, redlining the car in every straight and burnouts will give you problems very quickly. Full bolt-ons and a tune should get you where you want. The top 3 tuners I hear are best are Alphaspeed, BTR, SFR (in this order). A lot of people have their tunes and a lot are knowledgeable on these tunes. Start out slow and get to know the car. In the end the best mod for the car seats behind the steering wheel. Also everyone always talks about engine and turbo but there are other aspects that will get you to where you want like better, lighter wheels, tires, clutch, lighter control arms, coilovers. A lot of factors will dictate how the car performs and 1000hp is no good if the car can't get it to the ground. Find the cars weak points and work from there. I wish you the best i'm also starting to mod my car and have a goal of 300whp before I decide if I wanna go higher.

Keep in mind, 400whp is really close to double the stock 275 crank hp.

These engines aren't 4b11T engines, if anything it's more similar to the naturally aspirated open deck 4b11 engine in the base model lancer.

I would shoot more for 350whp and go from there, because usually going 50% over stock by adding boost (and supporting mods) usually means a sharper boost spike, and more abrupt torque curve, which can get hairy in corners.
But if what you want to do is just straight line pulls, that's fine.

My dad's stock 2014 R-Spec 2.0T, with intake, put 200 WHP on a Dynojet dyno in the Chicago area. So, 400 WHP is double. As a side note, he installed the Lap3 UC 93 octane chip, while strapped to the dyno, and instantly gained 40 WHP.
