BK2 3.8 making the stock exhaust a little louder

Hello, I'm kinda new to the whole car modding scene. I have a 2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track 6MT that is completely stock. I like the sound of stock exhaust but its too quiet for my taste. My gf's stock exhaust on her 2013 Si is louder that my exhaust. I have always loved the sound of the Ark exhausts. I also wanted one for my Tiburon a few years back. I do plan to eventually get the Ark Grip for my car but it might be a while before I get the catback exhaust. Are there any cheaper mods to make the exhaust sound a bit louder? I don't want it to be extremely loud to where my neighbors hate me and I don't want to throw any check engine lights. I'm more interested in the sound vs actually performance at the moment as long as I'm not losing any performance. I'm also thinking about the Megan Racing transmission mount, what are your opinions on that as well?

Thank you

Some options:

1) Replace the secondary cats with test pipes. Price: around $130. No incremental cost if you already own ramps or jack stands to do the work. It's easy! Just 8 bolts.
2) Have a shop delete the OEM muffler and weld in a Magnaflow Model 12265 instead. Price: around $300 for parts+labor. <-- this was my first mod ever, and I really liked it.
3) Pay a shop to delete the resonator and replace it with a straight pipe. Price: I dunno, maybe $150?
4) Muffler delete altogether. I dunno, maybe $100.

1) With replacing the secondary cats with test pipes would that cause CEL and would that be really loud or cause a lot of drone? Also can test pipes and h pipes both replace the secondary cats or is it only test pipes?
2) With that setup, are you running a single exit? When I pull up that model, I'm only seeing one side. Would I purchase 2?

So, I've heard that straight pipes are extremely loud and cause a lot of drone, will a test pipe have similar effects?

I'm still trying to process a lot of this information with exhausts and everything. I've heard that with the 3.8 NA engine the downpipes don't really give much of a different if none at all.

1) No, test pipes will not cause a CEL. Both sets of oxygen sensors on the 3.8 are before the secondary catalytic converters. It's just replacing two less noisy tubes with two more noisy tubes. As for drone: anything you do to your exhaust will create some amount of drone. But test pipes will mostly make revs and acceleration more meaty.

2) On the OEM muffler, only ONE pipe goes into the muffler ("inlet"). Two pipes exit the muffler ("outlet") to your exhaust tips. The magnaflow 12265 is the same design with the same diameter as the OEM GC 3.8 exhaust. It's literally just a cut-and-weld job for any competent exhaust shop. The shop I took my car to was done with the work before I had time to finish my meal at Wendy's across the street.

Test pipes are one step down the road to straight pipes, but you're not there yet. Test pipes delete one of three resonance cavities in the 3.8 (2nd cats, resonator, muffler), and that will make the exhaust note more aggressive accordingly. You're not straight pipe until you also delete the resonator and the muffler.

I really think you'll like the 12265. It was exactly what I was looking for when I was in this same position years ago with my 3.8. But, beware: next thing you know, you really will want those test pipes and a true aftermarket exhaust!

I think I might start off with the test pipes first and if I'm wanting more I'll do the magna flow until I get a full catback. I want to try the test pipe first to play it save because I could also swap back if I really don't like it. But I really do like that idea so I might do it after the test pipes. Most test pipes I'm seeing are around $200, what test pipes have you seen around $130?

I did a muffler delete in my bk1 3.8. It sounds amazing. It's pretty loud but not unbearable to any means. You can barely hear it from inside the house

You can try doing the redneck mod and put washers between the muffler and the rest of the exhaust.
