Stock steering wheel leather or rubber

I am looking at buying a coupe from a dealership and the steering wheel has a grey color and feels rubbery. The dealership says it’s factory. I have seen other coupes with a blacker material and more firmer feel, which looks more like leather. Thoughts? Shouldn’t all stock steering wheels be the same? This is a 2016 model.

So is that why some steering wheels look different because they have been treated like yours? Are you saying they are grey looking at first (like the video above) but with treatment or use or the sunlight baking the leather it turns into a blacker, more firmer feel?

My origional steering wheel on my 2014 Ultimate has the thin firm leather wrap with gray stitching. I remember reading there were problems with the leather on this wheel cracking or just coming apart and that the warantee replacement was diffrent materrial, yours may just be a newer version. Mine is still in good shape as i removed it and installed a custom CF/leather with red stitching modified stock wheel from SoCal Garage works.

I think you may have hit on the head what I think happened with the car I’m looking at. It has already 50k miles on it and the gray rubbery material it has looks new, so it’s likely it was replaced under the warranty as you describe.

Does SoCal garage do the wings emblem on the steering wheel? I really like the thin firm leather wrap as well. Do they offer that material?
