Everything seems to come around in do time. What's old will become new again. What people don't have they will miss.

Wherever there's a car enthusiast who likes to drive there will always be a market for the sports car. However in the future probably much smaller.

Gold is scarce and in high demand, and aluminum is abundant; therefore the price of gold is much more than the price of aluminum, by weight, in today's market.

Did you take into account refining?

"Aluminum" doesn't occur in nature. What is mined is bauxite ore, which takes as much as 48 mega joules per hour to extract just a kilo of aluminum.
titanium and iron extraction makes up "some" of the cost of extraction, and how long a refinery has been operational (initial cost of equipment/used over time).

Gold is takes very little to extract in relation, and very little in energy. A majority of refinement is done chemically and a byproduct extraction is silver.
The value of gold has been kept recently due demands of it in electronics (gold plating) due to it having no reaction to oxygen (oxidation). During the whole process of refinement very little is lost, maybe less than 1%, depending on what process is used.

andbudzi Sports cars always loose value quickly.
I buy all of my cars 0.5 - 2 year old crashed to save money. Back in 2013 prices on bk2 v6 track were pretty high even crashed (but I could not wait), now you can pick one up (2015) for 4 k with light damadge.

Sí, verdad... Not to mention if you don't yet own a Gen, even with the inflated price of performance clutches and oil coolers, it's a hell of a bargain! Much rather have a 2010-2012 3.8M than a much older 350Z at the same price. Still, I wish I'd bought mine used

mrGainZ I agree with sticking with the Gen for awhile and modding it to my desire. As my payments came to a close, I was actually looking into other sports cars but just couldn't justify paying the high prices for what's in the market. The Q60, RC-F, M3/M4, S5/RS5, Type R.. all over 30-40k used. Came real close to jumping on the RC-F but the cons outweighed the pros. Think I'd be more happy slapping on a widebody and some new 3p wheels on the Gen than making more payments and starting from scratch again lol

Honestly, I am probably going to hold onto mine as well for the "forseeable" future. I agree, with PA roads being as terrible as they are it can be hard to put something upwards of 50k+ through the roads central pa has to offer, unless you get really specific on where you want to go or it isn't your daily driver. I recently picked up a much older 06 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited for the winters and daily driving here for that very reason, good luck on avoiding flying debris, tires, and rocks on i83 by the way.

I love the Lotus Evora, though I have yet to drive one. If I am ever able to afford one even used, i'd gladly entertain that idea (bright red of course).

Lol, I don't know about "cheaper to make fast", but with the much lower purchase price the overall investment is lower. I'm finding quality, overbuilt parts are slightly more expensive compared to other platforms because of the custom factor or because of the lower volume. Plenty of shops sell a DSS carbon shaft for a Mustang for $1200. Same parts are used in our version. Try finding it for less than $1500ish. Same story with clutches and brakes. Maybe we'll luck out in a couple years and whippersnappers will buy these and drive down the tuning costs. Who knows?

TsukubaRed_PA No German cars for me ever. My view is you don't maintain them, but you support them. Yes they handle well. Also, in Pennsylvania it is German cars that split wheels from our wonderful roads. The Japanese and American rims are heavier, but stronger. I am not looking to spend much money on a new car should mine get hit, for example. No matter, I like my Genny. This morning I swapped-out my winter tires for my summer ones. Next, I need to work on my 120k maintenance. I have some wobble when I brake so new rotors when I replace my pads.

I'm with you! My 2012 Track is about ready to turn over 100,000 miles next week. I bought it new in late 2011 and have had a few problems, but don't plan on replacing it. I bought it as a "retirement toy", but found it a good daily driver. I'm 73 now and simply cannot get sports cars out of my blood! Also electric may be the new wave of the future, but there's nothing better than the roar of internal combustion!!!

Silent speed, like flying a glider... I'm looking forward to it but not til chargers are everywhere and batteries charge faster.

Gaijinn Electric has all the torque etc, no argument there. But electric will never be as cool or satisfying as internal combustion.


Im not about a zzzzzzing,...........versus a roar, turbo spool,pssssht. Not even close. Oh and the smell of methanol .

Thats also a big reason i went with a new 2014 3.8 ultimate,$32K, instead of a slightly used 2014 Lotus evora,$50K, but i still worry about my Genesis in a parking lot.😁

I think you could move on to a luxury sports car if you wanted. A nice Mustang isn't too bad but I'd recommend a European AWD car to traverse these Pennsylvania roads.

As for electric sports cars, Volvo and Porsche will have theirs next year. Tesla is way ahead because they keep the batteries relatively safe and cool. Nissan is almost a joke now. They are just making money by slowly changing exteriors but offering the same V6 engines for 15 years straight. SUVs can be fun but they are too expensive until they are out of warranty. I'd have to have a family first before I replace my car with one. And I love a 6 speed but even Subaru and Mazda are phasing theirs out. Only the base engines and trims get them.
