In my opinion,
Spend your money on BOOST, cold air intake, injectors, ECU, performance tires, brake rotors, brake pads, springs, shocks, sway bars and exhaust. Performance suspension let’s you lower the car which is an easy way to lower the car’s center of gravity. Quality brake rotors and pads will stop your car quickly.
Always, always, always deactivate the “traction control” system every time you start the car.
I daily drive a 2012 Gencoupe 2.0t R-Spec with all of the above mentioned mods except mine is BOost which is soon to be rectified. 🙂 🙂

Black Friday/Cyber Monday
This Near Xmas I will be gifting myself the R1 big kit for 19 inch wheels. 6 piston front/4 piston rear. With the expected discounts of those days it will be around 3,500 $. Great performance and NOBODY beats their looks.

Also, given the GC's weight distribution, I would think just doing the fronts with the brembo GTS setup would work pretty well. Really interested in your opinions pro and con.

|AKGC||If you go OE brembos for the rear and aftermarket for the front, you can put in a brake proportioning valve to get the correct braking force/ratio.|

I am a 2014 boosted 3.8 and I have the Brembo Big Brake kit on my fronts and OE Brembo on rears (no real reason to spend the money for the rears). I have 19" Volk G50 rims and no clearance issues. The kit is not cheap.
I have the OEM rims and it won't work with the Brembo big brake kits. I just did get some 19" rims for my summer tires but dont want to change my winter rims and tires just yet.

I was looking for something that looked better then my red painted calipers. Was wanting something with better stopping power then the standard calipers. I was looking at the Stoptech big brake kit. I also saw one one of the threads someone said something about wilwood calipers. Maybe one day adding a turbo so would like to have the stopping power for all the extra ponies.

The stock genesis brembo brakes are ok, but they're really nothing special. As a style piece I recommend them. And they are substantially better than the base brakes. I've seen them second hand for as little as $700.
The R1 Concepts Forged BBK looks good, but there's no performance driving data. They are a reputable company based near where I live and they have excellent customer service aaand everything I've purchased from them has been as advertised and of decent to excellent quality.
That's all to say that I'm certain they'll work as road car brakes. I'm certain that, design considerations aside, they'll be well built units. I'm certain you'll get good service from R1 if you have a problem. However, once you spec them out on their website, you'll find they cost nearly as much as a stoptech trophy kit, which is a high performance specification and as a company, they have a considerable amount of experience and feedback/reviews from actual racers.
Brembo probably has the best components you can buy, but they're astonishingly expensive, and they don't sell a matching rear axle upgrade kit.
So, if you want max performance and you're ok with blah styling, go with stoptech.
If you just want flashy brakes that work and make your car look very spiffy(honestly R1's stuff has great combo potential), go with R1. It's possible they're even great performance if you spec them right. But really, nobody knows.
I remember I called R1 for a quote once on a 6 piston front and 4 piston rear setup with anodized everything and floating rotors and specified stainless pistons over their standard aluminum(which would be a mistake to use) and the price was a little over $5k. If you shop around for a stoptech trophy kit you can get it well under $6k. Food for thought, anyway.

R1 offers you the best options of what you want, made specifically for your car. It is not a mere off the shelf. You are able to ask for 18 or 19 or even 20 fitment. 4 or 6 piston, the greatest choicees of any of the big brake kits. Check it out. They have exaclty what you need and want.

from looking at photos from a loooong while ago, IIRC the 18" OE wheels just barely fit. From what I can remember, the back part of the spokes was mighty close the the side of the caliper (BK1 18" wheels I believe).
So, if it doesn't clear, pretty sure you get the clearance with some 5mm wheel spacers.

Big brake kits???
I have a 2013 3.8 Grand touring w/o brembo brakes. I was thing about getting a big brake kit. Which should I get? Then next year I was hoping to get a turbo kit so I want to make sure the car stops. Not sure if I want the brembo brake kit because of needing to step up to 19" rims for the larger caliper brakes. Also not sure if to pay that much for a kit when to others are $1000 less. Any help will be nice.
