VIS Racing Carbon fiber Ams hood and Pro Line grille

Hey everyone. This is my first product review on the forum. I felt the need to post about this hood and grille i ordered from Blood Type Racing. They are both made by VIS Racing and look insanely good. First off, I chose this hood based on other posts I had read and a lot of input from other Genesis owners. It features removable inserts under the real working vents that can easily be taken out with a screwdriver. I chose the grille more for its uniqueness and design. Both feature a high quality mesh that seems pretty strong and is secured tightly.

PACKAGING

Both products came in one massive box and were perfectly packed by VIS. It took us almost 10 minutes to remove both parts that had no damage at all.

INSTALL

We decided to start with the grille because we knew it would be a little harder to install. And it was. There were no guides or install videos of this grille. Actually if I hadn't have seen it on Blood Type Racings website, I never would have known it existed. We removed the. Stock grille and ended up dropping the bumper because there were no "alignment" tabs or holes drilled for mounting. Only solid "Tabs" that lined up pretty close to where the stock screws went. So I had a buddy hold the bumper straight and I drilled pilot holes to put the stock screws back in. We also had to drill out the holes that the punch clips went into near the top/hood latch.
The hood was much simpler. We removed the strut and the two screws in either side of the hood with a person supporting each side. After removing the stock hood, the VIS hood fit right into place. Fitment was pretty good to start, but it would not latch. The secondary latch would catch the hook, but it would not lock into the primary latch. After about 30 minutes of trying to figure out what was stopping it, we realized the secondary latch was not making its way into the hole between both sides of the hook on the hood, but instead was resting on a flat part of the underside of the hood. After bending it a little with some locking jaw pliers, it set perfectly.

CONCLUSION

These two products were definitely worth the money. In the end the two together with shipping ran me give or take $1000. I'm completely happy with them and I would highly recommend them for anyone who may be in the market for a carbon fiber hood and grille. I would also love to answer any questions that you guys may have on them.

From what I have seen it does look like they make it for the BK2. I found it on a few separate websites while I was researching which hood to buy. I can't speak for the quality or fitment considering I have the BK1, but if it's anything like mine it will be close to flawless. Their parts are hand made according to their site, so they are subject to minor differences in shape and flaws.
