<SFR> SFR 2.0 T Reflash Review & Feedback Thread

I don't plan on making a lot of posts in here, I joined for one specific reason and that is to give some feedback on the reflash I received from SFR. First of all I want to say thank you to the people that post on this site. This is my first post but I've been a avid reader since March of 2009 when I bought my coupe and it's been very helpful in guiding me on some of my mods (AEM-CAI, Manaflow Catback Exhaust, SFR 3.8 Reflash).

Now down to business, the reflash. I'm not very articulate and I'm not an ace when it comes to grammer or spelling. So, for the more educated crowd you'll just have bare with me, maybe try sounding things out. The two words that I spit out during my test drive were WHOOOLLY F**K!!!I could not believe the throttle response and increased torque that I felt immediately. I'm not talking 50 + FT LBS of it, but it did put me back in my seat and no I didn't have my ass dyno on or any other dyno for that matter. All data was compiled by actually driving my reflashed car, nothing scientific about it but f**k was it fun.

I understand some of the hesitation people may have after taking it dry by another vendor on this form, regarding product claims and customer service. Jay and SFR have been nothing but straight up with me right from the very begining. Responding to every e-mail I sent out and even contacting me by phone at one point when I was unsure if they had received my funds. It was after that phone call and how Jay carried himself on the phone that I was able to relax. For me, customer service is huge. If a product is what the manufacturer claims, it will speak for itself. Its' when the product falls short that I, as a consumer, am at the mercy of the seller and their beliefs and values regarding customer service. I do know I will be a repeat customer based seoully on SFR's customer service. Thank you Jay.

Just one last thing. These comments are my 2 cents nothing more and were not ment to offend anybody in anyway. Life's to short to hang onto ****. I hope everybody has a great weekend driving their cars. For my brothers who have had the reflash done, we will just have to drive them a little harder and a lot faster.

Throttle reponse is amazing, wants to run run run. I previously had NSPP and it made a bit of difference in the upper revs- this thing wakes it up across the board. So once I got used to the new power, I shut off the ESC and I can consistently let loose the rear end on take offs- and without even going full WOT. I found it hitting redline so fast I wasn't keeping up with my shifts (tip tronic). Everything that is supposed to work does (cruise control, paddle shifters, etc.). cudos.

All i have to say about the reflash is HOLY CRAP! as soon as i left the lot for the test drive i instantly felt the differance. turbo seems to spool up quicker and i wasnt expecting to be thrown back into the seat like i was. The drive home was a very fun one. The car pulls in every gear. i couldnt believe that when i was in 5th and punched it the car just took off. only think i noticed on my drive home that i wasnt sure about was i was getting a little shutter noise from the forge blow of valve. i might just have to put a stiffer spring in there now. other than that you guys have once again made my day!

For anyone thinking of getting the reflash i just want to say that just reading about how good this is doesnt compair to how it really is. its sooo much better than i expected.

(my butt dyno says it feels faster...some ppl might say it could just be power that is delivered earlier with no real increase in hp/tq but you know what, it makes daily driving more fun than stock now with the better response)

Jay, Andrew and the crew were great. Very down to earth guys.

I had one of the newer ECUs and they had some issue with the immobolizer and the car was just cranking, they redid the flash to fix the immobolizer issue and I went off to test drive. They said they saw one similar new ECU in the USA and I was also the first in Canada that they worked on with this ECU (well obviously cause I was the first in Canada on the tour for the reflash)

jay did a obd scan and everything was showing up as normal

loneshot came along as passenger for the test drive (he has an automatic 2.0t as well)
then i went in his car as passenger and he duplicated my test drive and we both felt the difference (he can probably add his comments in here too for his reflash comments)

throttle response is really great, i was just getting out of the lot onto the main road and i had to get use to how much throttle to press but afterwards it was second nature.

going past 3k rpm and you get pushed back pretty good all the way till 5.5k, i didnt go to redline since i just got the car and want to at least put 1000km on it before i do that but yea i can definately feel the power in D and when in tiptronic

cruise control works fine along with the speed up/down buttons on cruise as does traction on/off and sports mode tiptronic

when in tiptronic the power comes in after 2k rpm and you can kind of hit the throttle on and off and feel the power like the car wants to just lunge ahead...there is some jerk when you shift up in sports mode though before you go past 5k rpm (i didnt let it shift up itself since i didnt redline it yet so i dont know how smooth it would be)

i'll add another comment as time passes by and how i feel about the reflash in the longer term.

The reflash process is actually pretty quick, most people got theirs done in around 20-30mins. Jay is extremely knowledgeable, and friendly as well as the rest of his crew. My first impression of the flash when I first got into my car was that the throttle is very sensitive, which is great because I thought it was originally very numb. Acceleration below 3000 RPM is great, the car still retains its reserved characteristics and will fool anyone into thinking it was still stock. Then when I was able to find some open road to WOT. I was very surprised at the amount of pull when the RPMs reached 3000. I know when I was driving stock before the reflash, the acceleration from WOT on auto feels kind of boring, you see everything is passing by faster, but you don't really feel any sensation in the car. But after the reflash it felt like someone gave a good kick to my car making it finally wake up and it was actually trying for once... you could feel the car surge forward, sucking you back in to the seat and keeping you there all the way into 6000 RPM. This is great because it gives you a lot more range in the gears to work with making the car a lot more fun around the bends . I know a lot of people have said this and I was a bit skeptical about it, but it really does feel like a new car. I also love how turning off TCS actually turns TCS off completely. You can really the car into a corner and WOT and have the back end slide out easily.

And if your saying to yourself, this sounds too good to be true, you should try it out for yourself first. Jay is a really easy guy to work with, and I'm sure his work will speak for itself.

All car functions are retained and working perfectly. All cruise control functions are working. NO Limp Issues.

Note: Oh I forgot to mention, I'm running on 87 Octane at the moment. So I'm not taking full advantage of the power. I'll be posting up more vids once I clear out the tank and replace it with something premium.

Thumbs up

Ok so this is the first of my many sport cars I have owen over the years that I have had a reflash or in that mater any mod of this type done. Hyundai should higher Jay to program there ECU's for sport cars. I thought my coupe was kind of under powered and was getting beat buy diesel pickups lol. cameronusmc2001 (John Campbell at Taylor Hyundai) insured me that this for the money was going to just wake up and be the best mod to get for this car. OMG this car runs so smooth and the power is there from idle to red line and really makes this car fill so alive. I have not had dyno done before or after on my r-spec so have no numbers. Also having a AEM CAI installed this week. but man do I really like driving my car now. This is coming from a guy who drives 200 MPH hypersport bikes.

The SFR reflash with the base tune pulls as it should but with the extra added boost for $75 from SFR. The beast pulls extremely hard after 3,000 RPM and it just keeps going and does not want to stop unless I make it stop. With the addition of the lovely System upgrade BOV I can hear it very loudly especially after going from 6 psi to 16 psi. I just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this tune. Jay and Andrew are great guys and did a good job, there were some kinks but they won't leave you hanging they WILL get you up and running. Great service guys, cheers =D

NSFW 18+<dont know where to write this. but after the awesomeness that ensued after my reflash...i dont care as long as it goes VIRAL.>

First off, HUGE HUGE HUGEEEE Kudos and cool points, immense gratitude to Jay and Andrew from SFR.

I suck at directions and after being lost for an hour, they told me to stay put and they drove and FOUND me and did their thing right where i was.

Not only did they call me to make sure i was Ok and hanging tight, but they were extremely consideration and HERRA cooR pEEPO.

to what you all have been waiting for.
i dont have dyno charts, or anything cool / valuable / data, all i have is experience driving my car.

IT ****ING KICKS ASS. (after the reflash)
you know you got like your first kiss...and your like damn thats hot.
and you will always remember it.
-just bought the car

and than maybe a few days / weeks go bye...and than yall start making out. and youre like damnn hott.
-few bolts on. hks ssqv3 / cone filter.

and than things get hot and intimate...and nasty. make out and SHE GRABS YOUR NUTS AND Your like OMGAHSURPRISEHOLYSHIT THIS IS AWESOME.

^that explains what went through my head as soon as i hit first gear at the light.
IMMEDIATELY you feel a HUGELY noticeable change in torque. it really does push you into the seat ALOT more than stock.
the tach felt like it was sitting on some liquid. the needle flys up through the numbers so fast its almost sexually exciting.
before you know it youre at 6k. shift.
nice solid contact. smooth.....pushed into your seat. AGAIN.
and AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO BEAUTIFUL.

both jay and andrew can attest to the ridiculously stupid grin i had on my face when i came back from the first initial test drive with the reflash.
than they did a few modifications. i wanted to go faster.
they hooked it up. BAM. OMG. it was like getting laid the second time. the first time youre like DAYUMMM NICE SICK. but you had nothing AWESOME to compare it to right?

so after the second time they modified it.....i expected the same amount of awesomeness but wasnt THAT prepared for that extra amount of SICKNESSSSSSS
first and second gear pulls stock are hard already. with it. its even harder.

to be honest. it pull every single gear hard. 5 and 6 are now viable for pulling on the highway. sure its not as powerful as 3 and 4. but i try to pull in 5 and 6 all the time when im lazy. it doesnt GO anywhere. with the reflash 5 felt like 4 and 6 felt like 5.

thanks to jeff for the ride along. you really sold me. :P
thanks to daniel for being my tune partner
thanks to Jay and Silent Andrew for being so delicate with my honey. for being SO ****ING AWESOME. not only navigating me with a bird's eye view, but driving out to the middle of hick town so that i wouldnt get even more lost.
idc what anyone says. they are hella legit. so worth it. great CSR, great service, Great ERRRYTHANG

i believe so. and even on top of that, they stayed around and made sure my car didnt go limpy wimpy than we had some time to get to know them better and ate dinner before departing! freaking awesome experience. i wouldnt mind driving for 10 hours one way to get it after the blast i had!

any issues with warranty and all that is gone because if anything needs to go to dealer for they send you a new core ecu and you send it back while they work on it. its foolproof!
