The best driver cars ever built don't come with "extras", that is what makes them great cars. If you want doodads, don't worry about the performance aspect as much. If you are truly an enthusiast, you worry about driving......PERIOD.

Best car is powerful engine, light weight (less doodads), big brakes, stiff suspension, tight steering and wide tires.

Essentially, there are not many true drivers cars left unless you build it at home. Modern cars have too much crap in them for a TRUE driving experience.

That said, I do like some luxuries like radio and A/C and cruise control. After that, it is all a waste of money for me. I would rather have a simple stripped out car with weight and cost savings. I don't need electric windows, locks, GPS, back up cameras, ABS, TCS, MP3, HID, or whatever else you have to take in a car today.

Modern tech is great for engines however, and I do like an ECU and EFI.

I guess safety gear is OK, side impact beams, roll over support, AIRBAGS etc. But adds tons of weight and complexity.
get a motorcycle, its the only thing you want. why did u buy the genesis? Hyundai cars are known for their large selection of standard features for the money.

u want: no ac, no radio, no abs, tcs, power anything. How about a cbr1000 with no abs? that'll get you around faster and get you around in the winter just as well as a GC with a "big engine and wide tires with no abs & tcs"

how about the GC 2.0 or 3.8 vs the 8th gen civic? (**since they love to come to our forums and troll**) for those of you lucky enough to see the thread they made hear earlier.

The Gencoupe would destroy a civic any day of the week.

I'm a Honda lover but people that rice their accords and civics disgust me. (yes, those who rice they GC's disgust me also (rice = blue headlights, loud exhaust without any other real power boost, CF, u know what i mean...)

but back on topic of how the gc would do against an 8th gen (or the newer 9th) civic si: how do we stack up?
WTF is this a joke?

Sorry Honda fanboys, it's not even close any more...

Of course Honda still has massive amounts of after market support though, good thing too because it looks like they need it now more than ever. :gc-Popcorn_Smiley_b

Did you even read what I wrote? I said TRUE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. Those cars are gone. ALL cars have electronic nannies now. You can still get some stripped down exotics like the GT3. The previous VIPER was the last of the breed.

FYI, I did not buy a Genesis.....YET. I don't buy cars for FEATURES, I buy them for looks and performance. But that is the beauty of the market, something for everyone. If I want features, I go into my home and use all the electronic gadgets I want. I don't need to take them on the road with me, that is why I get into my car.......to get AWAY from all that crap and enjoy the engine and the performance. To each his own.

BTW, I HATE MOTORCYCLES with a passion. So I will just stick with my old muscle cars. Radio only. No heat, no air, no electric anything. Fast as hell. More safe. EVO X for the winter for me. Thanks for the recommendation though.

My Corvette is better than my Buick for sure but 295's on the back with big sway bars and anti hop bars really help flatten out the corners in the BUICK. The corner carver is my X. I use the old cars for the strip and just hot rodding around. The X is the race car of the bunch. Thanks for the well wishes though. A good floating turn with lots of body roll is always fun with the back end kicked out to boot.

I don't quite understand, what appeals to you about a Genesis Coupe?

A lot of the win depends on the driver. Twice in one night, when I had my 06 slightly modded (about 270 hp) Altima I beat an 06 Mustang GT, 350 hp. I would have beat him a 3rd time, but he was embarassed and turned off after the 2nd. Drivers make a lot of difference. Remember IROC Z28s, and the annual IROC races? 20 equally prepared Z28s...1 winner and 19 losers. If a 370Z beats a 2013 Gen. Coupe, then I would say it's more of a driver problem than anything else.

why wouldnt a 2013 gen beat a 370z?

On the highway, they're pretty close now. I would say a 2013 gen should be able to edge past a 370 by the same margin a 370 edges out a 2010 gen

(my brother and i did many highway runs with our cars)

you hate extra features. but hyundais come with the most features the money in the auto industry.
you want a bare bones fast car
you hate technology (calling it crap)?? you must be old...

you want BIG PERFORMANCE, but HATE motorcycles? lots of contradiction

the 2.0 that you want isn't fast... its a 3300lb car w/ 210 hp. (sorry to all the 2.0 owners!!)

which direction are you heading at and for what reasons?

I did not say fast car. I said there are no cars that offer a TRUE driving experience. That said, I still need to drive a car daily.

As you get older, you realize you can only go so fast and use a small percentage of a cars power on the street. So while a GT500 or ZL1 is appealing, I really have no use for a car with that sort of power. I just don't want to be bored.

My X had 291hp stock so a GC is close to that.

I do not want BIG performance, I would get a GT-R if that was the case.

The 2.0 is moving up to 275hp, so not sure what you are talking about there.

The GC is something different and affordable. I could lease one cheap and have some fun. I have not had a two door as a daily (other than trucks) for almost 20 years. So a nice looking, affordable, somewhat economical, fairly comfortable car as a daily with an 8 speed paddle shift transmission is appealing to me right now.

Any problems with that?!

BTW, I got some GC front seats I am going to try to fit into my '72 Corvette. They are very comfortable compared to my stock seats.

I think the 2013 v6 track and the 370z will be right on top of each other in straight line speed, with the 370z having a slight advantage around the track. Genesis coupe has about 20 more hp and also weighs about 200 pounds more so i think its a wash. Motortrend was able to get the 370z 0-60 time down to 4.7 seconds, though for some reason I don't see the genesis coupe hitting that time. I'd be happy to see the genesis coupe just break the 5 second mark. Can an extra 42hp get the time down from 5.4s to 4.7s? We shall see :gc-Popcorn_Smiley_b

~275 hp? thats around the power and weight of a v6 family sedan these days.
so what you want: a bare bones car for "pure" driving experience doesn't exist on the market today. get a lotus, get a miata, get a go cart. anything but a GC. the gc has more technology and features than any car in the price range.. which is exactly what you don't want.

and btw, you can't afford a gtr
