2013 Stock Nav Hacking Thread

The more discussions and findings have been discussed in the 2010-12 thread a 2013 specific repository is needed. This thread will serve that purpose.
***NOTE: This is a WORK-IN-PROGRESS especially currently in the early stages. I am trying to credit the original members that researched and found posted data referenced. I apologize for anyone not mentioned either as of yet, or due to missing the author info. If I am missing any of this data please let me know so I can update.

Engineering Mode
TIP: I recommend using a stylus pen for accessing and/or navigating any of the hidden modes. It makes it a lot easier.
Accessing Engineering Mode: Thanks to Ryengoth
  1. Go into FM or AM radio mode.
  2. On the screen tap the top right 1x time. (aprox 1/8th inch away from the corner)
  3. On the screen tap the top left 6x times. (aprox 1/8th inch away from the corner)
  4. Engineering Mode should open.
  • 1. Version
  • 2. Tuning
  • 3. AVC
  • 4. Debug Messages
Engineering Mode Notes:
the settings in engineering mode reboot back once you turn the car off and on again.
Almost certain "battery" is the stupid chirping you hear when you leave the headunit on for too long without ignition powered on.

Video being checked is VERY suspect as in all the other engineering mode examples from korealand, it's not checked, except for the k5 which DOESN'T have reverse camera from the factory.

Wonder if it's a disable button. A theory would be to uncheck it, throw the car in reverse and see if the screen goes black. Car is getting a reverse signal from it, so if it's in fact the reverse camera disable, it will go black as it's trying to display a video feed from a non-existant camera.

Would also make sense that it's disabled, since the car doesn't have a camera, so obviously having the screen go black in reverse would look silly for Hyundai.

Really need to compare with a 2014 with a reverse camera.

Or, someone taking a chance and hitting the button, and seeing what happened. Obviously since we don't definitvely know what it does... could cause weird behavior.

While the chance is slim, the risk is still there.

Windows OS
TIP: I recommend using a stylus pen for accessing and/or navigating any of the hidden modes. It makes it a lot easier.
Accessing Windows Embedded Automotive OS (aka Windows CE Auto): Thanks to Dreadie
***NOTE: You will lose your presets (and possibly some other settings may revert to default)
  • Turn on the nav/head unit/radio.
  • Hold the FM/AM + MAP + EJECT buttons (all 3) for 15 seconds.
  • The screen should go black (power down), let go of the buttons.
  • The screen should reboot into Windows desktop.
  • To exit turn off and on your vehicle.
Mounted Drives:
  • CD Disk: Believe to be the CD slot. Haven't tested functionality within Windows.
  • DiskA:
  • DiskA2: Believed to mostly hold map & navigation data
  • DiskA3:
  • DiskB: USB drive. Has been tested with flash drives & external hard drive (500GB) access. Able to copy files from other drives onto USB.
Data Dump Notes:
These lib functions look mighty tasty!

Map Update version 7U03 USB Source
This is the file list and source from the version 7U03 map update USB drive:
Thanks to Lovetodrive2000
***NOTE: You will NOT be able to update your nav unit with just the USB files/drive. The actual map update process requires providing a generated (or pulled) Device ID to MnSOFT with your order number. Once vetted through their system you are given your authentication code that allows the update to continue.

  • It looks like the folders correspond to different versions/regions of the nav update. From quickly looking in the files I believe the US GC update is located in the BK folder......not too sure though.
  • These are the folders. They all seem to have the same 11 files with variations for ver/region:

Tons of us shared knowledge in the other thread... let's ensure they get the credit they deserve.
Yes I agree 110% I am trying to quote the original sources it's just taking a bit longer since I either know the data already from reading it, or have it written down in my notes, or im referencing the other thread.

This is definitely a big Work-In-Progress at this initial stage. I am trying to go back through the other thread and give credit to the original posters, it's just taking some time, promise.

the settings in engineering mode reboot back once you turn the car off and on again... tried it earlier to disable the annoying battery thing. was hoping to disable the map "warning" message where you have to press agree before you see anything. couldn't figure out which button it was, but even then pretty sure it would be useless without figuring out a way to make the changes save.

"AGREE" button is likely in the executable for the navigation program. Some time and a hex editor would likely easily solve that.

I'll make this simple for you 2013 guys.

Following is needed:
1) 2014 Nav Engineering Screen Shots
2) Full directory listing from 2014
3) Full directory listing from 2013 map update USB drive
4) Possible files from 2013 map update USB drive

Until someone does this, keep holding your breath.
