My Genesis coupe currently has a really bad leak somewhere and water is pooling up in the trunk. I'm going to pinpoint the the point of entry later tonight.
My question is, has anyone on this forum brought their Genesis to a dealership to get the problem fixed under warranty?

I've had nothing but bad experiences with my dealership and I fully expect them to say that can't find any problem and charge me a service fee.

Any input is greatly appreciated

I don't have an answer for you on your water problem but I would sure like to know what you find out as the cause because I've seen other people with the same problem but I've never found out what the cause is of this I've heard it's around the tail lights the antenna fan the sunroof all kinds of different things and I really have never heard anybody nail it down to what it actually is so if you do please let me know I would appreciate good luck thanks Danny

Most of these is the taillight gasket/seal. I had the water in the trunk and into the back seat floor. Dealer replaced the "updated in 2014" gasket/seals for the taillight and has been okay so far. Pryor to getting the gaskets replaced, I, like many others put tape over the top of the taillights to seal the crack from the top. That also worked, but the take needs to replaced when it starts to look $htty.

I have same issue. Does the water pool up under the spare wheel? My Hyundai dealership will check if it’s under warranty for $150 so I just keep a sponge handy.

Things to check if there is a leak in the trunk.

Tail lights

trunk seals

If you have a sunroof, to see if the drains from it are clogged.

I was just gonna say, my buddy had his parked under a tree with tiny leaves and when the fall rains came, it all built up. Having a garage certainly helps to keep the problem at bay

I had this issue and did many things. Taped the top of tail lights, removed the liner and caulked the inner sides where the factory seam sealer is. Finally I did something that worked but not 100% sure? I would remove or pull back the trunk liner carpet and look for signs of wetness or dirt build up, typically it will be one side or the other.

I had the same problem as well a couple months ago. It pooled up in my trunk under the spare tire and eventually spread all the way up to my gas pedal completely under my carpet. I had to take out all my carpet and seats and center console to let everything air out and then test it under a water hose for a long time to realize it was in fact coming in around the taillights. I had had a few people on instagram tell me they had the same thing happen and it was their taillights, but I just wanted to be sure. I used some gasket maker around my taillights and sealed them up and haven't had any problems since. Only problem is I'm too lazy to put my carpet back in.xD

Same issue here! Every time it rains and I’m driving I can hear a lot of back splash under my car & by the time I get to where ever I’m going my trunk is filled with water. Especially in the cornered areas of my trunk.....like a lot of water. I’ll try to take some pics next time it rains here in jersey but this **** is annoying every time it rains I’m in my trunk laying down towels

Any chance you can describe exactly where you applied this sealer and what kind?
