Caliper Painting

Used some wheel cleaner last summer (Meguiar's® Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner | Canadian Tire) that got onto my calipers and faded/ate the paint, calipers are now a dull gray colour. Soap and water for my wheels from now on. :(

So, I'm going to be painting them in the spring and was just wondering if anyone had tried the following products before...

VHT High Temperature Calliper Paint | Canadian Tire

Dupli-color Engine Enamel | Canadian Tire

My original thinking was to paint them a gloss black but then I saw this stuff VHT High Temperature Engine Metallic Spray Paint | Canadian Tire and thought maybe a copper or gold colour might look good also. I don't want the calipers to be too flashy but then again I don't have the Brembo's so the calipers are fairly small and doing the copper/gold might not stand out more than I would like. My car is red and the new wheels going on will be chromium black.

Anyways any feed back from personal experience with any of these products or even just an opinion on using some other kind/colour of paint is appreciated.

I've used both and recommend VHT.

I found when I used Dupli-color the winter really took a toll on the paint, it got corroded by the salt and had to be repainted by spring.

So far my VHT is holding up just fine this winter with all the salt.
I've also have heard about the dupicolor not holding up too well another brand to look at is G2

Exactly the info I was looking for, thanks guys. Is G2 something that can be bought locally, like at CT or somewhere similar?

I'll probably just go with the VHT as I know it can be bought at CT and it's like 5 minutes down the road from my house.
sadly i could not find anywhere that sold the G2 around me so i ordered it from tirerack
I don't believe G2 is sold in Canada anymore.
order G2 through tirerack they ship to canada with all taxes included

G2 Brake Caliper PaintSystem Set

delivery to canada is pretty cheap
even got the cleaner spray can included (arent suppose to ship those...)

it does avery nice job and seem that it will hold better than a spray on paint and you can eve probably do 2 cars with the kit
and the brush on is easier to apply and less messy than spray

worth the couple extra bucks and waitig time so you dont have to redo next year... specialy if you drive during winter

heres the result

For some reason whenever I try to link to something from TireRack it never works. It did it to your first link also.

The G2 paint looks nice, think I might just go with the VHT, was thinking black caliper bracket with copper or gold caliper. Just might look good behind my new wheels.

Thanks again for the responses. :)

Not to bug you with too many questions but what kind of prepping did you do on the calipers? or does it need any at all? I'll be removing the caliper brackets to paint them but I'd like to not have to remove the brake lines from the calipers themselves .
To prep, you'd want to use brake cleaner and also sand the calipers to remove any dirt/rust.

Damn, when did R1Concepts become a vendor here?! I bought rotors, pads and calipers from them for my RSX a couple of years ago, and I was REALLY happy with the product and the service.

Just sent my dad to them to get, shockingly, Pads, Rotors, and Calipers for his '97 Integra.

That's awesome news, for me! (even if I'm running a little slow LOL)
Here's an idea/suggestion. There are a few guys on here that have or are upgrading their brakes to Brembos. Maybe buy their old calipers and get them powdercoated. More costly but also more long term then painting them yourself.

Thank you sir.

Never even thought of that, very good idea. My cash flow is a little thin atm due to the stuff I have sitting here in the house waiting to be installed so I'll probably have to stick with just the paint for now.

Definitely something I'm going to keep in my though. :)
