Here is a custom shift knob I made to replace my factory one. Enjoy!
Here is the top. Material is Titanium 6AL-4v (Grade 5 I believe)
Tapped holes in top. Center hole is an M12 x 1.25 metric for the shifter shank. The other three (err two) are #10-32
I broke a tap off in one of the holes. Titanium is an unforgiving material!
Here is the bottom portion. The threads pictured are #5/8 - 18 . These are for the jam nuts to hold the shift boot up.
Counter-bores for the #10-32 screws to join the top and bottom portions. Counter-bores are 1.25" deep.
Here is the Carbon Fiber sleeve. 1.6 inch diameter.
Wall thickness is .05"
Jam nuts (sometimes referred to as thin nuts)
Test fit for jam nuts
Top portion installed into carbon fiber sleeve
Next the bottom portion
Screwed together
Here is a shot of the shifters (OEM, first attempt, CF)
Carbon Fiber installed
Enjoy!
