No as long as there is a vacuum signal strong enough it should open. I would suspect the valve or springs if the hoses and vacuum source are OK.
Yeah im kind of leaning toward the spring. to be honest, there are so many configurations that i don't honestly remember which one i did LOL but i am pretty sure i tried em all.

Like our good buddy Red said, the best vacuum source to use is the large hose that goes to the black and white check valve. I used a 3/8", 3/8", 1/4" tee BEFORE the black and white check valve. It has so much more vacuum than the little line by the green and white check valve. When I used the vacuum line by the green and white check valve, I was getting so much BOV flutter. I bet you anything you tee'd after the check valve, if you do that, you get no vacuum. Is this a real Greddy BOV or one of the Ebay/Amazon knock offs, cause they rarely work right. You're better off with a Kinugawa BOV, it's the same BOV as the Forge and you can get it for around $75 on Ebay and it mounts on the stock turbo on the hot side, so it's releasing hot air into the atmosphere and not going into the intercooler and sitting there like a cold side BOV does. Yea, I'm probably going to hear it from the guys who say a cold side BOV is better, but think about it, releasing from the hot side, you have less hot charged air to release, releasing from the cold side you have a lot more to release and it's colder so it doesn't expel as quickly.
honestly when i first did it i had a hard time finding that info, but i did it before the valve as recommended on a youtube vid i saw. not sure about what spring setup i had though so i def just need to give it another go.

as far as the bov yes, it's a real one i paid good money for it and since they discontinued it in 2008/09 it def looks old LOL but i had a few knock offs... this one is the only one that gives the signature whistle which i hear is one of the main ways to figure out if it's real. but anyway, i put an NGR Body inside of it because the originals were known to leak so i figure i eliminated that option. it's all lubed up and good to go. i am pretty excited to try re-routing and logging my results because i remember how much of a different the damn thing spooled

My old fart eyes, didn't see your post about the Frankenstein Greddy/NGR body, LOL!!!!! Ok, so it has to be one of three things, either there is too much preload, the diaphragm is torn or the valve is just sticking. Check the preload first before diving into the body.

ok. so running before the check valve and also have tried tappee into the lower vacuum nipple line for extra vacuum. levels are 9.6/9.7 at idle which is normal for me. so here are some audio clips of the double blow off. the valves opens early at 13.5psi, you can hear it. fyi i have both bov springs installed. one spring just stays open when with a ton of preload

https://youtu.be/feXSAOydXIA

now when i run off the solenoid i hit 17psi and it operates fine. heres a video of the normal sound. only the large spring installed with 50% preload

quick update now I'm running off the black and white check valve and the car is hitting 18.5 and holding to 17.5. this is really good however the bluff out is still not completely blowing off.... it looks like it is not opening all the way even with two vacuum sources connected. I change from two springs to one large spring but still not opening all the way. I think the small spring only would be too soft

last post for today. went to the small spring only and to my surprise i got 18.5 psi holding to 17+ ,..... now the pre load is heavy on the small spring but the valve blows off at anything less than 17psi. if i hit 18 or more it does the double blow off thing. had to hit max boost and let it fall some to figure that all out. i am running off the manifold to get this extra boost.

the same setup only gets me 16.5 psi. off the solenoid..... so weird. but it blows off normally on solenoid. which i could have the best of both worlds lol
