What misa496 probably means is, does anyone know HOW to remove the gas cap.

Painters will sometimes remove your gas cap so that they have a color matching reference to go by if you're dropping off aftermarket parts that you want to be painted the same color as your car.

The company that painted my rims wanted my gas gap for the color match, but since it's not as quick and easy to remove as it is on other cars, I just ended up leaving my OEM hood with'em. I'm glad it was still of some use.

I turn mine counter-clockwise. Is it different for each car??

Oh. From what it sounded like, the OP wanted to remove the black plastic gas cap, and actually paint THAT the color of his car. I was trying to figure out what the point of that was.

Semantics people.

Thank you qwaszx for the opportunity to clarify. Yes, I am referring to the gas plate/cover, not the actual black gas cap.

I'm pretty sure that that's what the OP is referring to as well.
