in 3 months the art of speed backing will deteriorate away and about 3-6 months after that the finish comes off... i had dark chrome (i think the chrome holds up better but will eventually tarnish)

By far, the most durable wing emblems are the Customized ones that we have on our site. These will never tarnish because they're either anodized or powdercoated. See HERE for more info.

I let Mike know about mine I think on a Thursday.. then it went to the painters/powdercoaters the following week... it shipped out that Friday or so, I think... and it arrived on Monday... so about a week and a half

You can't just clearcoat these emblems. The spray will not adhere. A special mix is required.

I clearcoated and had zero issues. Also I know the whole bunch of people that did the same and were absolutely fine.

What clear do you exactly have to use? Is it something similiar to a marine use clear or what?

I don't know. I picked a multipurpose oil-based flat clear spray from Home Depot. So far so good.

I bought Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Gloss Clear from Home Depot and after 1 coat it looked horrible, dulled the chrome paint and little air bubbles everywhere.

Anyone have a specific brand and type to recommend?
